Chapter 13 - What Rank Are You

Chapter 13

"Ooi! It's Mizuki Yui!"

The crowded streets erupted into chaos and excitement.

"It's really her!" "Mizuki Yui-sama!" "We're saved!"

Above the city, bathed in the golden light of the afternoon sun, Yui descended slowly from the sky like a divine spirit answering humanity's prayers.

Her long blonde hair swayed gently in the wind, her emerald eyes shimmered with warmth.

"Good morning, everyone," Yui said softly as her feet touched the street below. "I hope all of you are safe."

The civilians nearly exploded with emotion.

"Thank you, Mizuki Yui!" "You saved us again!"

"You're the strongest!" "We love you!"

Voices overlapped endlessly.

To them she was not merely a warrior, she was hope itself.

Yui smiled faintly.

"Please head to the evacuation zones," she said. "There may still be corrupted entities nearby."

The crowd nodded eagerly.

Some looked at her with admiration. Others with awe. A few simply stared at her as though witnessing a living legend.

But then.....

Yui's expression froze.

"…?"

A strange sensation brushed against her senses.

No…

Not strange but dangerous.

Her emerald eyes narrowed slightly.

"…That presence."

The atmosphere shifted.

Far above the city skyline on top of a distant skyscraper

Sylva and Ren stood silently beneath the endless sky.

For a single moment...

Yui's gaze met theirs across the city and then

WHOOOOSH!!!

The air exploded.

A violent shockwave burst outward from Yui's position, sending dust and debris flying across the streets below.

"KYAAAH!" "T-the wind...!"

Civilians shielded their faces in panic as the ground trembled beneath the pressure alone.

And in the next instant

Yui vanished.

Ren's eyes widened.

"…What?!"

One second ago she had been kilometers away.

The next, she stood directly before them.

Silent and motionless.

Like she had always been there, the rooftop atmosphere instantly froze over as an unbearable pressure descended upon the surroundings.

Ren instinctively stepped back, his body instantly screamed danger.

Yui's glowing emerald eyes locked onto Sylva.

And for the first time since arriving, her calm expression cracked slightly.

"…Who are you?" Yui asked quietly.

But beneath that quiet voice was absolute caution.

Sylva merely smiled as though the pressure crushing the rooftop meant nothing to her.

"My apologies," she said calmly. "I was simply admiring the view… and your impressive power."

The wind blew between them.

Yui's gaze sharpened, something was wrong.

This woman's presence…

It felt overwhelming and commanding, the kind of aura Yui had only sensed from monsters

"…What is your rank?" Yui asked coldly.

Ren flinched.

He knew that tone.

But Yui wasn't asking out of curiosity.

Sylva smiled faintly.

"What's this now?" she whispered. "Asking for my rank already…"

Her eyes gleamed slightly.

"Tell me…"

The air grew heavier.

"... Ooo and what if I refuse Slyva smiled?"

The rooftop trembled.

A killing intent so dense it felt physical exploded between them.

Ren's breathing stopped.

And then

Ding....

The system screen flashed violently before Ren's eyes.

[SYSTEM NOTICE]

Heavy murderous intent detected.

Warning: Hostile pressure exceeds acceptable survival threshold.

Immediate retreat is advised.

Survival Probability: 0%

Cold sweat rolled down Ren's face.

His instincts screamed at him because this wasn't a normal confrontation anymore.

"This is bad… I have to do something."

Ren's thoughts spiraled as tension consumed the rooftop.

The afternoon wind howled between the ruined buildings while the air itself felt distorted

Meanwhile, Mizuki Yui's eyes remained locked onto Slyva with terrifying intensity.

"I won't ask again," she whispered coldly.

The pressure behind her voice alone made the atmosphere heavier.

"What rank are you?"

Silence

Even the city noises below felt distant.

Then.....

Ren suddenly stepped between them with an awkward laugh.

"Y-Yooo! Miss— eh… Miss Mizuki!"

Yui's sharp gaze slowly shifted toward him.

"Hm? And who exactly are you?"

The moment her eyes landed on him, Ren felt chills run down his spine a pressure that was overwhelming.

It felt ike standing before a natural disaster disguised as a human being.

"I-I'm Takahashi Ren!" he replied quickly, forcing a grin onto his face. "Please don't mind my sister, o great one! She can be a little overprotective sometimes!"

"…Great one?" Yui repeated, raising an eyebrow.

Ren laughed nervously.

"I mean… I just saw you erase that monster with a single attack."

His eyes widened with exaggerated admiration.

"Only legendary figures can do something that insane!"

For a brief moment yui stared at him in silence.

Then suddenly…

She chuckled a soft, elegant laugh and yet somehow, it carried an even more dangerous aura than before.

"You're funny," she said.

Her lips curved into a faint smile as strands of her blonde hair danced in the wind.

"I think… I'll take an interest in you, Takahashi Ren."

"…!"

Ren immediately froze.

His instincts screamed at him that those words were absolutely not a good thing.

"W-Wait… should I be honored or terrified right now…?"

But before anyone could respond

Beep.....

A call notification echoed from the communicator attached to Yui's ear.

Her expression immediately shifted back to seriousness.

"Yes."

A holographic screen flickered to life beside her.

"Astral Headquarters requires your immediate return, Mizuki Yui. A Gate anomaly has appeared in Sector Nine it's seems it's a distater level threat."

"…Understood I'll be there shortly"

The transmission ended.

Yui sighed softly before glancing back toward Slyva.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

That aura it felt ancient dangerously ancient.

She hadn't sensed something like that in years.

Questions filled her mind, but now wasn't the time.

Without another word, a form of energy erupted beneath her feet in a burst of blue light.

The rooftop trembled.

Slowly, her body began to rise into the air.

The sunlight illuminated her like a celestial being descending from myth itself.

As she floated above the rooftop, Yui looked down at Ren one last time.

"See you around… Takahashi Ren."

FWOOOSH

A massive shockwave exploded across the rooftop as she vanished into the afternoon sky like a shooting star.

Ren stared upward blankly.

"…Yeah," he muttered weakly.

"I'm definitely cooked."
