~Elsie's POV
Gianna saw it before I could even say anything else.
Her eyes dropped, then widened, and the way her hands tightened around me told me she understood what I was trying not to fully accept.
"No… no, this cannot be happening," she said, shaking her head quickly, like if she refused it hard enough, it would change.
I did not answer her. I just sat there, my hands still resting on my stomach, my body was too tired to react the way it should.
"Elsie, look at me," she said, her voice rising now, panic slipping through every word. "This is not happening, do you hear me? It is not."
But I could hear in her voice, and in the way her breathing had changed that she was really scared. Then suddenly, she turned away from me and started shouting.
"Help!" she cried out, her voice breaking as she waved her hand toward the door. "Please, somebody help us! She is bleeding!"
