~Salvatore's POV
She stumbled back, coughing, trying to catch her breath while holding onto the edge of the table for support.
Behind me, I heard movement, and her father stepped forward slowly, his face pale.
"Salvatore," he said carefully. "Please, she made a mistake. Let us talk about this and find a way to rescue those in danger."
I turned my head slightly.
"A mistake, right?"
That word felt too small for what had happened.
"You let her do this," I said.
He froze.
"No," he said quickly. "I did not know…."
"You knew enough," I cut in.
"I only wanted her gone," she said, crying now. "I did not think it would go this far."
Her father dropped to his knees beside her immediately.
"Please," he said, his voice shaking now. "I am sorry. I will fix this. I will make it right."
I looked at him for a long moment, then at her, and I reached out for my gun, I pointed it at her father and both of them froze.
