I stood there, still looking at him, and for a moment, I honestly did not know what to say.
My mind felt strangely blank, like all the words I could have used had suddenly disappeared. It was not like he had asked me something difficult, yet the situation itself felt unfamiliar, almost too unfamiliar for me to respond normally.
Before I could figure it out, Gianna stepped in, her voice light and excited.
"You should go," she said with a bright smile, looking between both of us. "Go out and have fun."
Her tone carried something playful, but there was also a kind of encouragement in it that made it harder to refuse. I glanced at her, then back at him.
Livia suddenly stood up from her seat, and the movement pulled my attention away for a second. She let out a small hiss under her breath, her expression clearly displeased, and Salvatore's mother followed right after her without saying anything.
