Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: Rin, Now We Fight Together

"Rin, now we fight together."

A silvery-white tide of wind once again filled the space around Jean. She wore a smile, facing the formidable enemy before her.

Having reaffirmed her resolve, Jean felt strangely relaxed. She had no premonition of defeat. "Just wait, I'm going to seize the victory before me right now."

Gilgamesh's expression was not so pleasant right now. That had been a genuine life-or-death crisis, and he also knew that the metallic Servant was something Kirei Kotomine had arranged.

Although he had originally scoffed at it, he had allowed it to be placed there, but he hadn't expected it to actually save his life.

Then there was the young girl before him. He had originally just felt that she was somewhat unique, so he had spoken words to test her and received an interesting response.

But what was this? This state of extreme relaxation, this state of being certain of victory—even just looking at her, he felt as if he had already been defeated and eliminated.

"Absolutely not!"

He stabilized his defenses, then proceeded to launch a massive barrage of powerful Noble Phantasms, striving to overwhelm her with raw power.

---

Just as Jean had anticipated, Gilgamesh's first wave of attacks consisted mainly of throwing Noble Phantasms, which also proved that his "Omniscient and Omnipotent Star" could not uncover her information.

Swinging her blade downward, the sword, wreathed in Stardust Wind, blew these Noble Phantasms away directly. The few remaining ones struck the barrier of Stardust Wind, producing only a clattering sound.

But the momentum did not disappear because of this. Within seconds of contact, explosions began to occur one after another. The energy carried by the Noble Phantasms collided with the ground and the ruins, creating a massive amount of fire and shockwaves.

The sky, which had grown dim as the sun set, brightened once again. Surrounded by flames, the unscathed Jean and the grim-faced Gilgamesh stood in a stalemate.

"This isn't enough. This little bit of fire is too gentle. Is this what it's like to be as warm as a spring breeze even when facing an enemy?"

"You will regret this." Without saying another word, countless Noble Phantasms poured out again. This time, their power appeared much weaker compared to the last.

But Jean keenly spotted a Noble Phantasm meant for dragons among them; this was the one that had just attacked Lia. It was likely that the other Noble Phantasms also possessed various countermeasures.

And this move was still a probe.

If he wanted to probe, let him probe. Jean was not prepared to drag the battle out. Lia was currently fighting Mysterious Heroine XX, who was no less exceptional than Gilgamesh.

Infusing a large amount of Stardust Wind into the blade, Jean would not allow any Noble Phantasm to stop her treasured sword in the upcoming battle. White Wind seemed to respond to Jean; the entire sword body ceased its humming and became steady and quiet, but the white light it emitted became even more murderous.

Utilizing the body reinforcement technique improved by Medea, she kept the balance between physical damage and the regeneration brought by her vitality. Feeling this immense power, she kicked the ground forcefully several times and charged forward.

Almost at the same instant, Jean arrived in front of Gilgamesh and swung her blade toward his body.

The armor he had brought out again was cut in two like a hot knife through butter, with almost no resistance, and he was on the verge of meeting his end.

However, a sense of crisis suddenly appeared in Jean's mind. She did not pursue but instead quickly retreated with the same technique. Then, a giant sword as large as a mountain fell; had Jean not dodged in time, she would likely have been turned into pulp.

"A Divine Construct—the Mountain-Slaying Sword?"

This giant sword completely separated Jean and Gilgamesh. This was not a good thing, as it would give Gilgamesh plenty of preparation time. The longer he had to prepare, the stronger he became with his Gate of Babylon.

Stardust Wind mimicked the wings of Stardust Dragon. Although she had not mastered the true meaning of free flight, it was more than enough for gliding. To compensate for the lack of propulsion, Jean had specifically set up four wind orbs beneath the wings to spray wind backward, providing thrust.

At this moment, rather than mimicking Stardust Dragon, Jean was more accurately mimicking the jet-like flight style of Valstrax.

Folding her wings and firing the four wind orbs simultaneously, the powerful thrust instantly lifted Jean into mid-air. Then, she slightly spread her wings to control her direction while searching for Gilgamesh's position.

Within visible range, she saw him staying in the shadow of the Mountain-Slaying Sword without making any move. This scene was clearly illogical, so Jean attacked directly with a wind blade. Sure enough, as the wind blade touched it, a type of golden chain, distinct from the Chains of Heaven, burst out from the center, quickly coiling into a ball, and then several Noble Phantasms riddled the sphere with holes.

Clearly, this was a trap predicated on Jean charging in to attack immediately.

But a trap could not be this simple. Although she did not know the specific configuration, leaving the original position immediately was the inevitable choice.

The thought lasted only an instant. In the next moment, Jean immediately dodged to the side. Sure enough, a chain passed through Jean's previous position; this should be the Chains of Heaven.

Although she did not know if she, as an Original (Evil) God, would be susceptible to the restraint of the Chains of Heaven, Jean still maintained her distance while searching for Gilgamesh's position.

She scanned her surroundings but gained nothing. However, since her ordinary senses could not detect him, she would have to use other means. First, she used a wind orb, detonating it directly in a loose manner, just like she had done when dealing with Budo previously.

A heaven-shaking roar resounded throughout Fuyuki. However, since he had already brought out something like the Mountain-Slaying Sword, this bit of noise certainly didn't matter.

Sensing the trajectory of these wind elements, she could indeed perceive the existence of an obstruction above in the sky.

Once again, she used the wind orbs for propulsion, rapidly ascending upwards. At the corresponding position, she created a large-scale wind orb, concentrated a portion of the wind, and launched it toward the direction of the obstruction.

The concentrated wind formed wind blades, pouring down like a rainstorm. After a few seconds, an object resembling a piece of transparent cloth was pulled away, revealing the airship inside—the Vimana.

Taking the opportunity, Jean also landed on top of the airship; after all, aerial maneuvering was still not as convenient as being on the ground.

Gilgamesh, standing there, had regained his composed appearance. Jean could feel a flow of energy being continuously transmitted to him through the airship.

"This was specifically prepared for that guy. I didn't expect it to be used on you. To be honest, I truly underestimated you."

"That's good. Make the best use of everything, after all, you won't have the chance to use it on anyone else again."

Then, Jean took the gemstone gifted by Rin, the Diamond of Hope, out of her spatial pouch and injected magic power into it, letting the magic burst the diamond. Following this, a gloomy aura spread out.

"Rin, now we fight together."
