Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: The Fragmented Shadow

The opal sky of Libertas hummed with a peace that felt almost alien to the battle-worn soldiers of the Glitch Legion. But deep within the silver-glass forest, at the very edge of the newly formed reality, something was wrong. The air here didn't smell like jasmine; it smelled like ozone and old, rotting data.

Kira moved through the translucent trees, her eyes narrowed. "Elara, do you see that?"

Elara followed Kira's gaze. A patch of grass was flickering, turning from soft silver to a jagged, pixelated gray. It was a localized glitch—but not the kind Caelum created. This was a parasitic error.

"It's a remnant of the Oversight," Elara whispered, her staff glowing in warning. "It hid inside the reboot."

Suddenly, the gray patch expanded, and a figure stepped out from the static. It looked like a player, but its face was a blur of shifting binary. It was one of the rogue players who had survived the server wipe, but their body had been hijacked by the dying commands of the Final Admin.

"The... King... is... a... lie..." the figure hissed, its voice sounding like two metal plates grinding together.

Before Kira could react, the Hijacked Player lunged, their arm transforming into a long, red spike of 'Deletion Code'.

CLANG—!

The spike never hit Kira. A shimmering barrier of silver light erupted from the ground, blocking the attack. The wind in the forest suddenly turned cold, and the silver trees began to vibrate in a single, powerful frequency.

"Touch them, and I will erase the memory of your existence," a voice echoed—not from a person, but from the very atmosphere itself.

Caelum was no longer a man standing on a battlefield; he was the battlefield. A massive spectral hand, made of the same silver light as the sky, reached down from the clouds and crushed the Hijacked Player into dust instantly.

But as the enemy dissipated, a new message appeared on the screens of every inhabitant of Libertas:

[ADMIN_NOTE: THE_DOOR_IS_LOCKED_FROM_THE_OTHER_SIDE]

"Caelum?" Kira called out to the sky. "What does that mean? Who is on the other side?"

There was no answer, only the sound of the wind. Caelum had saved them, but the effort had clearly strained his new, formless existence.
