He set the packet on the central low table.

Mira rose from the window seat. She had been reading the Castellan-side materials Iren had left in the morning. She crossed to the table.
"It will be in Cult script."
"Yes."
"Then I read first. Then we translate. Then we discuss. The script's grammar requires — preparation. The materials are not safe to scan casually. The Cult writes operational documents in ways that bind certain readers to repetition patterns. I am — inoculated, by training. Most of you are not. I read first. I translate to common. The team works from the translation."

She broke the seal.
