Kyle watched from the window, his heart pounding.
Outside, the sky had turned into a battlefield.
He couldn't follow all of it. The movements were too fast. Chains of gold light flashed like lightning. A figure in silver armor dove and weaved between them, her sword leaving trails of white fire. And higher up, almost lost in the mist, a dark silhouette floated with a bow made of shadow.
Every few seconds, an arrow of pure darkness would shoot downward. Sometimes it struck a chain. Sometimes it struck the ground, leaving a crater of black ash. Sometimes Lilian dodged it by inches, her chains carrying her sideways like a spider on threads.
Kyle's eyes ached from trying to track them.
He had never seen a battle like this before. The moves, the attacks, and the speed were all beyond his imagination.
It was deadlier. Every move seemed designed to kill, not to wound. And yet, neither side had landed a real blow yet.
