Chapter 317: What If We Had Lord Mammon's Child?
Early the next morning.
Koume had woken up bright and early. She ran a hand through her slightly messy red hair, stifling a yawn, and then...
"Third Sister? Why are you here?"
Koume looked at Tamao in confusion.
At this moment, Tamao was leaning against the corridor wall, staring blankly ahead in total silence.
Koume blinked. That was Lord Mammon's room.
Tamao remained silent, offering no answer to Koume.
"Is Lord Mammon awake? Let me wash up, and I'll come back to help you attend to Lord Mammon's morning routine, Third Sister." Koume assumed Tamao was just waiting for Mammon to wake up.
But the reality was clearly nothing of the sort.
"Fourth Sister."
"Ah?"
Koume had finally sensed something was off. Tamao's mood was visibly, completely wrong. After all, they were five sisters who had grown up together, spending every waking moment by each other's side.
"Tell me, if Eldest Sister stole your beloved... what would you do?" Tamao pursed her lips, her voice a low murmur.
"Eh?!!"
Koume's eyes flew wide open instantly, and she clapped her hands over her subconsciously gaping mouth in sheer disbelief.
Her brain was currently short-circuiting. What had she just heard?!
Eldest Sister stole Third Sister's beloved? Wait, she couldn't mean Lord Mammon, right?
Well, Lord Mammon was indeed very handsome, and so incredibly powerful. Falling in love with him wasn't strange at all. Koume herself was quite fond of Mammon and deeply admired him. After all, it was Lord Mammon who had "saved" them, freeing them from the miserable destiny passed down through their generations.
"This..."
A tangled mess of thoughts spiraled in Koume's head, leaving her utterly chaotic. She couldn't help it; Tamao's question was just too much to process all at once.
"But Lord Mammon isn't exactly your boyfriend, Third Sister..." Suddenly remembering this fact, Koume spoke up rather weakly.
"But... I was here first!" Tamao bit her lip, sounding completely unwilling to accept it.
Lord Mammon was always very busy and rarely returned to the Kanto region. He had finally come to Ecruteak City for once. This was supposed to be her golden opportunity to be affectionate with him, but Eldest Sister had completely stolen it!
Koume was stunned. Was Third Sister really first? Wasn't it Eldest Sister who had met Lord Mammon first?
"I was the first one to agree to accompany Lord Mammon for the night! That was my spot first!" Tamao emphasized.
"???" Koume's brain crashed all over again.
When she finally processed the meaning, Koume's youthful, slightly childish face immediately flushed a bright shade of red.
Having grown up in the environment of a Dance Theater, Koume might not have experienced such things firsthand, but she still understood how it worked. Put that way... had Third Sister already done it with Lord Mammon on her own?
And judging by Third Sister's words, that meant...
Koume looked toward the door of Mammon's room. Did Eldest Sister stay over in Lord Mammon's room last night?
Eldest Sister is so bold...
Koume blinked rapidly, completely at a loss for how to answer Tamao.
Just then, a click came from the wooden door. Tamao and Koume immediately snapped their heads over.
Satsuki, dressed in casual clothes, opened the door as quietly as possible, only to immediately lock eyes with her two younger sisters. Even the usually poised and meticulous Satsuki was startled. She hurriedly slipped out and carefully pulled the door shut behind her.
"Why are you two out here?" Satsuki let out a breath, asking with a mix of embarrassment and confusion. At this moment, she was bracing a hand against her lower back, her footsteps noticeably unsteady.
"Um..." Koume looked over at Tamao.
"Eldest Sister, I need an explanation." Tamao didn't pull any punches, speaking to Satsuki with a lowered voice and a completely deadpan expression.
"?" Satsuki was puzzled.
"Let's take this outside. Lord Mammon is still sound asleep; we shouldn't wake him." Still overly worried about disturbing Mammon, Satsuki grabbed her two sisters and led them toward the backyard.
After the three sisters left, another wooden door opened.
Caitlin, wearing a pink nightgown, calmly watched their retreating backs, a disdainful smirk curling the corners of her delicate lips.
"Truly laughable~"
Indeed, she had heard the entire exchange, but Caitlin didn't pay these women any real mind. As far as she was concerned, these sisters were nothing but small fry posing absolutely zero threat.
Aside from the whole 'sisterly set' gimmick, what else was special about them? The funniest part was that they were actually getting jealous of each other over who got to sleep with Mammon.
It was enough to make Caitlin die laughing. Not worth worrying about. They had zero competitive edge.
Caitlin let out a lazy yawn, shut her door, and prepared to catch some more sleep. It was far too early in the morning for her.
The backyard.
The three sisters stood in a triangle. Tamao was locked in a standoff with Satsuki, while Koume stood off to the side, looking completely lost. Yeah, she had no idea how to interject here.
"You slept with Lord Mammon last night, didn't you, Eldest Sister?"
"...Yes. That was what I promised Lord Mammon from the very beginning."
"But that wasn't what was discussed! And Eldest Sister, you know that I was the one who was supposed to be with Lord Mammon..."
Tamao was extremely displeased. She was the one who was supposed to spend the night with Lord Mammon last night! She reined in her thoughts. Her main point of contention wasn't that Satsuki had 'poached' her sister's man, but rather the outright theft of her priority access last night.
"Tamao, you're being overly greedy," Satsuki couldn't help but frown. "Are you trying to monopolize Lord Mammon?"
"...I'm not. But it's so rare for Lord Mammon to visit Ecruteak City." Tamao sounded genuinely wronged.
"Tamao, I admit I was in the wrong last night, but there was a specific reason for it. No matter what, we are the best of sisters. How could I not know that?" Satsuki stepped forward and took Tamao's hands, her tone softening considerably. "A profoundly brilliant and important figure like Lord Mammon can't keep his eyes on us forever. He's only staying here in Johto for a few days."
Satsuki continued. "Since we've already decided to entrust our entire lives to Lord Mammon, we should try to secure something for ourselves."
"Eldest Sister, you mean..." Tamao's attention was entirely hooked by Satsuki's words.
"I calculated my cycle. Yesterday was my peak fertile window," Satsuki bit her lip, offering a shy, embarrassed smile.
Meaning...? Tamao understood instantly.
Koume's big eyes widened to comic proportions. Eldest Sister!!
"If we manage to bear Lord Mammon's children, Lord Mammon will definitely visit us more often in the future." Satsuki felt her logic was flawless. But her voice was still laced with shyness. After all, saying this kind of thing out loud in front of her sisters was deeply embarrassing.
Eldest Sister!!!
Tamao was shell-shocked. Three times?! And yesterday was Eldest Sister's first time!
Having personally experienced Mammon's 'combat prowess', Tamao was now looking at Satsuki with profound, solemn respect. Holy crap, Eldest Sister, how the hell did you survive that?
No wonder she couldn't even walk straight just now. That was way too impressive! How did she even pull that off? Was she born with some kind of legendary constitution for this stuff?! Tamao felt that if it had been her, she would have passed out cold ages ago.
"Tonight, it'll be your turn, Tamao. Strive to..."
"I understand! Eldest Sister, please leave it to me!" Tamao's slightly cold and glamorous face was deeply solemn. She finally understood Satsuki's painstaking intentions. In that case, she had to work hard too! She absolutely had to get pregnant with Lord Mammon's child!
"..."
Off to the side, Koume's brain had completely and utterly bluescreened.
I mean, her two older sisters' conversation was just way too 'abstract', making it incredibly hard for the inexperienced Koume to hold it together.
Still... having a little baby with Lord Mammon, huh...
Koume lightly touched her own stomach, her youthful face turning pink. If it was Lord Mammon, she really didn't feel like she was losing out at all. Koume stole a covert glance at Tamao, the gears in her little head spinning as she began to hatch her own secret schemes.
Time fast-forwarded to noon.
Mammon didn't stick around Ecruteak City any longer. Instead, he, along with Caitlin and Platinum, mounted Reshiram and took to the skies, flying straight toward the Whirl Islands.
This trip to Johto wasn't just to visit the five Ecruteak sisters—the other major objective was that Shadow Lugia!
He had backed off temporarily last time because he wasn't entirely confident in capturing it, but things were completely different now!
They arrived and landed on one of the islands in the Whirl Islands archipelago.
"I wonder if Mama Lugia is still around here," Mammon murmured, looking out over the endless ocean.
Caitlin sent out her Snowy. Calling it a 'baby' Lugia was a bit of a stretch now, as Snowy had genuinely grown to a massive size. With its wings spread wide, it measured a full ten meters across.
"Snowy, can you sense your mother's location?" Mammon asked. He didn't pull out the Silver Wing; tracking down the mother wasn't his most pressing priority right now.
"Huwaaah~"
Snowy shook its head, gazing at this stretch of ocean with a nostalgic look in its eyes.
"Forget it then." Mammon didn't push the issue. "You two wait for me here. I'm going to head down and drag that big guy out."
Mammon instructed the two girls as he sent out Kyogre. Mama Lugia had brought him and Kyogre to Shadow Lugia's sealing grounds last time, so he wasn't unfamiliar with the route.
Kyogre took Mammon and dove straight into the deep sea, navigating toward the coordinates. They traveled all the way down, arriving before the massive underwater waterfall in the deepest depths of the Whirl Islands.
And seemingly sensing the presence of the living, a colossal black shadow materialized at the bottom of the grand waterfall. Two beams of crimson eye-light pierced through from behind the falls, as an ominous black aura continually seeped and spread outward from the waterfall's base.
"Skreeee~!"
An earsplitting, profoundly evil shriek—like a nocturnal owl's cry—erupted from behind the waterfall. It was a horrendous sound, scraping painfully against the eardrums like a razor blade dragged across glass.
The thick black fog twisted and writhed as if alive, constantly clawing its way upward from the depths.
Oppressive, ghastly, and terrifying!
A heavy malice completely saturated the entire space—a horrifying malice that made one's skin crawl. Even Kyogre's gaze was incredibly grave. It could clearly sense it: this 'Lugia's' malice was far more massive than it had been during their last encounter!
"This pressure really is staggering," Mammon couldn't help but click his tongue in awe.
"Kyogre, let's use a Hydro Pump to say hello to our newest member." Mammon grinned widely.
Shadow Lugia?
Shadow Lugia was absolutely perfect! Exactly the kind of member he wanted for his ideal dark team!
