Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A Normal Day

I don't remember this day because something big happened.

I remember it because… nothing did.

It was just a normal day.

One of those days that pass without leaving any clear mark—

but somehow stay in your mind later.

My mother was at home.

Moving around in her usual way.

Talking, reacting, doing things as she always did.

My father wasn't there.

And by then…

that had already become part of our life.

The house wasn't loud.

Not silent either.

Just… somewhere in between.

I was sitting there,

doing something small—

something I don't even remember now.

And for no reason,

I looked at my mother.

Not the usual quick look.

Not the kind where you notice and move on.

I just… watched her.

The way she moved.

The way she spoke.

The way she existed in that space—

like everything was normal.

And in that moment,

I didn't think about the past.

I didn't think about what was missing.

I just saw her.

Not as someone complicated.

Not as someone I had to understand.

Just… my mother.

And something about that felt enough.

Not perfect.

Not complete.

But enough for that moment.

I didn't say anything.

She didn't notice me watching.

The day continued like any other.

But that moment stayed.

Because sometimes,

it's not the loud memories that define everything.

It's the quiet ones.

The ones where nothing changes…

but you understand something without needing to.
