Chapter 2: When Shadows Break Free
The night after the whispers…Kael couldn't sleep.
Every time he closed his eyes, he saw it again—
The broken throne.The burning kingdom.That voice…
"The Shadow King will return…"
"NO…" Kael muttered, sitting up, breathing heavily."It's just a dream…"
But deep inside… he knew it wasn't.
The next day, the village felt different.
People stared at him more than usual.Children ran away.Even the air felt… heavy.
Kael tried to ignore it.
Until it happened.
A group of boys blocked his path.
"Hey, Shadow freak," one of them laughed."Show us your magic."
Kael clenched his fists."I don't want trouble."
But they didn't listen.
A push.Then another.
"Monster like you shouldn't exist."
Something inside Kael… snapped.
The world went silent.
No sound.No wind.Nothing.
And then—
darkness spread.
Shadows from the ground rose like living creatures, wrapping around the boys' feet.
"W-what is this?!" one screamed.
Kael's eyes slowly turned red.
"I… told you… to stop…"
The shadows tightened.
They climbed higher… like snakes.
The boys fell to the ground, screaming in fear.
"HELP! SOMEBODY HELP!"
Kael stepped forward.
But it wasn't him anymore.
His voice… deeper… colder—
"Fear me."
Suddenly—
LIGHT.
A bright flash cut through the darkness.
The shadows vanished instantly.
Kael fell to his knees.
"Enough."
A calm… powerful voice echoed.
Kael looked up.
Standing before him… was a man in white armor, glowing with golden light.
His presence alone pushed the darkness back.
"Who… are you…?" Kael whispered.
The man's eyes were cold.
"Someone who should have ended you the night you were born."
Kael froze.
"I am a knight of the Light Empire," he said."And you… are a mistake that must be erased."
Kael's heart pounded.
"Why… me?"
The knight stepped closer.
"Because you are not just a boy."
He raised his glowing blade.
"You are the last Shadow King."
The air trembled.
Kael tried to move… but fear held him still.
The knight lifted his sword—
SLASH—
Kael closed his eyes.
But the attack never reached him.
Darkness exploded.
Stronger than before.Wild. Uncontrolled.
The ground cracked.The sky darkened.
And from Kael's shadow… something massive began to rise.
The knight stepped back for the first time.
"…Impossible."
Kael opened his eyes slowly.
Now both eyes… were glowing red.
Behind him… a giant shadow figure formed—like a king without a face… watching everything.
Kael whispered…
"I don't want this…"
But the shadow answered—
"You don't get to choose anymore."
🥀 Ending Line:
"That day… the world didn't just witness power—it witnessed the birth of fear itself."
