Chapter 1 - Prologue: REVETIEN Ascent Link | Protocol Zenith

Ascent Link is the foundation — fractured continents, sunken cities, orbital platforms hanging over ruins older than recorded history. Factions rise and collapse. Dungeons stay sealed until the level and reputation to open them are earned. Every raid cleared, every stat allocated, every piece of gear stripped from a world boss compounds into something. The grind is not filler. It is the entire point.

Somewhere in the back rooms of faction halls and locked-off district corridors there are terminals that do not respond. Dark screens, inert consoles. Players pass them early on without thinking much about it. Later, when the threshold in Ascent Link is crossed, they light up — no shortcut, no purchase, no workaround. The only way in is to earn it.

On the other side lies Protocol Zenith.

Massive esports events play out worldwide, but inside the zone, none of that matters. Every run follows one rule: everything carried in can be lost — and everything found can change everything.

Forty-five minutes. Closed zone. No escape without extraction. Five players, one team — classes locked before the drop: tank, assassin, mage, engineer, necromancer, among others. One composition per run. Everything from Ascent Link carries over intact.

And the team is not alone.

Seven other teams enter the same zone. They can hunt, or they can ally. Somewhere inside, a boss waits — pulled directly from Ascent Link, studied and farmed and memorised across hundreds of hours. Attack patterns documented. Weak points logged. Every phase transition known by heart.

None of it holds here.

In Zenith, bosses adapt. Each one runs on intelligence built from the moment the drop begins — movement logged, patterns absorbed, habits carried over from thousands of hours in Ascent Link folded into a model that keeps refining until the fight starts. The one that was farmed for loot is now hunting with everything it learned from being hunted.

When it appears, everything shifts. Teams converge. Alliances form — or collapse. Kill it, and extraction opens instantly. No delay. No second chance to loot. Leave before the fight and keep what was found. Stay and win, and take everything. Stay and lose, and lose it all.

Break off mid-fight — damaged, not dead — and Doppelganger Mode triggers.

Movement slows by twenty-five percent. Aim drifts. The boss releases copies built from everything it recorded: movement speed, aim pattern, decision rhythm under pressure. They do not chase randomly. They hunt the way the player hunts — because they were built from the same data. Two minutes to reach extraction. Survive stripped, or not at all.

And the boss remembers.

The model does not reset. It refines. The next run that ends at the same boss starts from where the last one left off — mistakes already catalogued, counters already loaded, the patience of something that has been waiting since the door last opened.

Skills are drawn from Ascent Link progression — a pool of one thousand, seven hundred passives and three hundred actives, shaped by gameplay history and pattern data across every session. Six per Zenith run, three passive and three active. No two loadouts the same. No two runs the same player.

The beta runs thirty days. When the timer expires everything wipes — gear, inventory, rank, the account. No pause, no carry-over. One thing survives: not the items, not the rank, but what was actually learned — in the hands, in the reflexes, in the calls made at two minutes on the clock with doppelgangers in the corridor. That is what Revetien is measuring.

There is no launcher, no storefront, no download. Access requires a sync at a Mind Vault facility — walk in, sit in the chamber, let it read. A successful sync issues a physical Player ID card: matte finish, embedded chip, tag in block letters. Every terminal, every login, starts with a scan. No scan, no session.
