Chapter 1 - The soldier who forgot his past

Silence appeared throughout the room, penetrating the fractures of the old rusty walls, like the perspective of a person waking up after a deep slumber.

Sunlight shone downwards making its way to the open segments of the roof.

It rested on top of an unconscious guy's face.

Nature claiming the building itself, leaves scattered everywhere.

Spiders crawled on the roof, expanding their territories.

Ants covered the wet metal walls.

droplets of a broken pipe dropped down, the noise echoed loudly throughout the torn-down hallway.

All of the sudden an intense ear-piercing ringing sound screamed on both of his ears.

His breathing grew heavier, his mind felt like it was spinning continuously. Sweat flooded the gaps of his broken armor.

The sudden actions the man did terrified the bugs and they immediately scattered far away from him.

Inside his brain, he had forcibly tried to collect memories of what he could remember.

The ringing sound intensified as imaginary sounds began forming around him.

Gunshots, yelling and explosions tore around him as his eyes opened.

Two powerful sides going against each other, fires erupted everywhere, destroyed buildings acted as a cover for the soldiers.

12 Soldiers stood behind him, black plated armor, around the armor had white lighting strips, their helmet had an unusual white symbol on it.

"COMMANDER [ Redacted ]!, OUR [ Redacted ] FLEET IS CO~LLAPSING!" A soldier screamed, his words were blurry as his mind tried to load fragments of his memories.

Faces around him were distorted, his mouth moved in the memory... But it never really felt like his even though something inside him clicked."CONTROL!, THIS IS ##### SQUAD XM-14, ##### HAVE #### THE POINT!" He said to the device in his wrist.

He knew he was leading, he saw it, soldiers behind him... But... It felt like he was talking to no one, it feels more like talking to a wall instead of an person.

"REQUESTING #### BACK UP NOW!"

Static is what they received back by the device.

And then-

"ELY~SI~UM UN~T XM~##, 'Static', SEN~D LOC~AT" The connection suddenly cuts.

Then everything dimmed.

The sky suddenly shined bright below them, laser projectiles rained down on their location, on the horizon, the small sun of the Aurrellia system watched as the planet lit bright.

Across the streets, the broken buildings, between the destroyed vehicles the humans built, explosions annihilated them all.

The details could be wrong as his mind couldn't remember anything past that.

The memories felt... Unknown, it felt like he was never supposed to recall this... His mind felt split.

One part was him... It is kind and felt loving... But deep inside his unconscious side, one felt like it already knew everything, but he was given fragments instead of the full picture.

A mind that had split to survive... "From... Whom?... and why..."

The memory had a sense of familiarity inside, yet he didn't feel anything even though he saw it from his own eyes, no heat, no panic just... Empty.

Sweat rained down across his body, head feeling heavy as if it wore something heavy.

That was all his brain could recollect from his past.

His eyes opened as soon as the memory faded, his eyes were bloodshot dark red.

Vision cutting out as he forced himself to try to stand up immediately, Hands shaking uncontrollably as his body immediately took action as soon as it woke up.

in a flash, all of the air inside his lungs, left, his vision turned off, his hearing came in last.

The room had fallen in silence once again.

And then the ringing sound returned as air tore back through his lungs, heart started again, eyes widened as if he had witnessed a massacre.

Slowly, his breathing calmed down, the ringing sound dissipated as he regained consciousness.

As he rested his back behind the wall, his body felt an unusually strange feeling, the floor had a strange effect on his muscle memory...

As if it had already known the feeling of always sleeping on the cold and hard floor.

"... Huh... Maybe... It's nothing" he whispered in his mind.

"I... should just forget it"

Slowly he stood up, his body heavy like it was carrying something large behind his back.

His body felt extremely aware because he could hear each breath he made, he could feel his heart beat in his chest, yet his thoughts were the loudest.

Then his attention shifted to the noise that interrupted his thoughts, a rough scratching of a metal object that echoed across the hallway.

Curiosity took over his mind as his brain had the urge to know what caused it.

Then the sound came to a halt as it was replaced by a dripping sound.

Not from a pipe, but a familiar sound of a saliva?, dripping from a mouth, echoing in a silent room.

But his footsteps felt it created more noise as he could hear it pass through doors.

His thoughts were empty, as the only thing that was driving him forward was curiosity.

As he walked to the end of the corridor, he spotted a torn-down metal staircase.

As his smell came, he was met with a disgusting rotten smell the building reeked off

As he slowly walked down the metal stair his attention shifted to a small sign that reads "exit", it was still on but flickering uncontrollably, and the walls were covered with dry blood.

And then he noticed that his hands were etched with scars that he didn't remember, and then he saw it, scars from his legs, his chest and even his face.

Each scar had contained a story that his mind couldn't even recall.

As he reached the last step of the staircase, he noticed a shadowy figure on the distance of the corridor on the new floor, this time the corridor had holes on the wall and the ground was made of concrete instead of metal.

The figure's body was twisted and had an inhumane pose, it's height reached past the doors of the corridor.

Then he felt something brew up in his chest, his brain became more aware, the air around him turned ominous.

The figure turned around and spotted him, its eyes were just a tiny white dot inside an eye socket, "...H-hi?" He slowly muttered.

The figure didn't respond back, instead it roared furiously, it had sharp claws that were impossible for a human to attain.

The noise ran throughout the corners of the building and outside.

It wasn't mistaken or a hallucination, it was running towards him at unnatural speeds, It jumped and targeted him.

But just in time his body reacted before his mind and stepped back, avoiding the figure.

The figure turned back and leaped again.

This time his body didn't move, it stayed even though his mind was shouting for it to move.

The figure knocked him down on the floor, and it began to strike with unimaginable strength, it used its sharp claws and pierced through his skin.

The air in his lungs left as the figure's intense weight was brought onto his chest, on a split second His vision dimmed, his brain felt extreme danger from being pinned down.

Blood exploded everywhere as the figure continuously clawed his upper body, and in an instant he used his arms for cover.

Yet the figures tremendous strength managed to overpower his arms, as his flesh and bones became exposed.

His breathing grew heavy, the pain suddenly dissapeared then a strong feeling of strength appeared onto his wounded arms.

Luckily the remains of his broken armor took the most hits from the figure, yet his body absorbed the impacts.

The figure had now created a weak spot for him to target, and without hesitation he tightened his hands and punched the figure's stomach.

The figure crashed down the floor, blood splattered across the ground, maybe out of pain it roared loudly, or was it mad?.

Before the figure could make another move, he immediately closed the distance and managed to land a clean punch on its jaw.

Blood covered his hands after the punch, smells old and rotten.

It's teeth scattered around the ground like a person blowing a speck of dust in their hands.

The figure didn't move a single inch after the attack.

Then he felt an unusual shake, not his mind feeling wrong after being faster than its sensors of balance, the shake came out of nowhere, maybe the building?, or the floor?.

his breathing grew uncomfortable and every time he tried to swallow his saliva felt stuck to his throat.

He felt a feeling brewed onto his chest, something that he regrets, he felt extremely guilty from killing the figure, yet his body was calm.

"Why is my body moving like it already knows what to do?" He whispered to himself .

"Who... Am I...."

"what... happened?"
