His side of the bed lowered slightly to accommodate his weight as he climbed into bed. Maya reminded herself how weird it would look if she were smiling too brightly at him. So she kept her expression neutral but her eyes never strayed from him.
She was happy. She didn't know how long this would last or if this would change their continuous interactions, but right now, she would savor it as long as she could. She knew this memory would stay with her for a very long time.
Despite the gap between them, she could feel his warmth as he settled in bed. She had pulled the covers over her naked body but his body heat superseded the warmth the covers offered her.
She pressed her cool hands to her chest. The cold had never bothered her but she did love how warm she felt when she was close to him—both inside and out.
