Elena stood alone in the huge dining room.
The table was long, filled with expensive food, but no one talked to her.
Her husband, Daniel, sat at the head of the table, cold and silent.
His mother looked at Elena with clear disgust.
"Elena," the mother-in-law said, putting down her fork.
"When are you going to give this family a child?"
The room became silent.
Elena lowered her eyes.
"I… I'm trying."
The mother-in-law laughed coldly.
"Trying? Three years of marriage and still nothing. Useless."
Daniel didn't defend her.
He didn't even look at her.
That hurt more than the insults.
"I'm sorry," Elena whispered.
Daniel finally spoke, his voice cold.
"Sorry won't give me a child."
Her heart tightened.
"I can go to another doctor," she said quickly. "Maybe the problem can be solved."
Daniel looked at her like she was a stranger.
"No need."
Those two words felt like a knife.
"No need?" she repeated softly.
"I already decided," he said. "If you can't give birth, this marriage has no meaning."
Elena felt the world spinning.
She looked at the man she loved for three years.
The man she married.
The man she believed would protect her.
But now she realized…
In this house, she was not a wife.
She was just a useless woman.
Daniel stood up and adjusted his suit.
"Mother, I will be late tonight."
Then he looked at Elena one last time.
"Think about the divorce."
He left.
The door closed.
Elena stayed sitting, her hands shaking.
The mother-in-law stood up and said coldly:
"You were a mistake from the beginning.
A woman who cannot give birth does not deserve to stay in this family."
She also left.
Now Elena was alone in the huge mansion.
Alone in her marriage.
Alone in her life.
Tears slowly fell from her eyes.
She whispered to herself:
"I loved you… Daniel.
Why do you hate me so much?"
She didn't know…
This was only the beginning of her nightmare.
