Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: Your own wings

Arthur

Another troubling day at training, l was improving my hand-to-hand combat skills, Blake was quite the opponent. I was beginning to understand how to properly throw fists accurately, rather than performing Street fighting style. This world had a variety of martial arts techniques, unique compared to my old world. The fighting styles went as follows:

Deadly bullet: A technique that focuses merely on hands, this technique allows one to deliver a deadly blow of fist that move like bullets. One's power would be determined by their rage.

Shadow field: This technique requires one to acquire stealth skills, it's a form of surprise attacks. Attacking the enemy where they least expect you too.

All-four: Becoming one with the monkey King, a technique manly focusing on targeting your weak points.

Those were the three major fighting styles, they've wierd naming, and they honestly don't sound all that. Anyway, what l was practising didn't follow any of those, Ken didn't have any knowledge about martial arts. His speciality was swords, so it kinda makes sense.

Iris was doing her usual target practise, aiming watermelons from a far range, she'd often miss or hit her target. If l have to say, she has quite the focus of she isn't bothering anyone, look how she's pointing her bow directly at the watermelon with deep focus, she will definitely hit the target.

Bang.

Or not. How'd she miss such an easy target, l could do better. Tongue slip. She begun whining and tossed her bow directly at me... why am l catching shots?

"Are you bored? The hell you aimed your bow at me, l'm not the target!"

"Mmmm. I'm tired doing this, how come things are also perfect for you, Arty?" She asked having a gloomy face.

"New nickname? Though, it sounds horrible for a guy like me," l said as my hair fluttered, "and look, l'm not all perfect, just take your time and you might get the hang of it."

"Take your time?! How looong? I want to do everything instantly!"

"I once had that mind set," that's practically true considering how much l wanted to learn how to efficiently use divine energy and training with a sword, which slowed my progression and made me only think about rushing ahead without taking it slowly. " Why rush the tour when you can praise the environment."

"Eh? What's with that grin?"

"You probably too young to understand."

"Fine I'll take it easy... who did you call young? We are both the same age, dummy." Her expression soften and she took her bow and went back to training.

Damn. I feel like an adult giving advice to the young generations, right message, wrong messanger.

Bang!

Was that an earthquake? Probably something heavy dropped, though it felt massive, can't complain there.

My training with Blake concluded, l was exhausted to the core, but it seems Blake still had more fuel running in him. He didn't seem to breath heavily than me, what's his body made of? The sun was setting and it was almost time to head home before mother starts her shinenigans. I said my good byes and immediately left.

I arrived home before it turned dark, when l got there l found mother standing with her arms crossed. Looks like someone's in trouble, as l got closer to her, her face didn't seem tensed, she had a wide smile on her face which was a relief.

I finished showering and went downstairs to have dinner, the food was looking delicious as usual, Chowed down all my shares till l was full. I helped mother clean the dishes thereafter, good boy activity coming in clutch.

I noticed mother hadn't said anything to me, normally she was the annoying one that wouldn't leave me alone with her yap, am l sad she isn't talking so much? Even if that's true, a mother's voice clears the fog.

"Everything okay, Mother?"

"Y-yes... Everything is just fine, l'm just not feeling well today." She said with a weak voice.

"Please mother, if there's anything you want to say to me, l'm all ears. I don't want to see you all gloomy, it doesn't suit you at all." I countered, meeting her gaze.

"My, first time hearing a caring voice from you!"

"What's this about, again?"

"Arthur, please promise me something."

"... Okay, what's it?" I replied going all ears.

"Even if there's an empty sky, learn how to use your own wings."

"Huh?"

"You're probably too young to understand, anyways, let's get the dishes all cleaned up before we head to bed."

Yeah, too young, l understand what you mean by that. But, why's she randomly telling me that? I've a bad feeling, unless l'm overreacting, mothers all over the world tend to give troublesome quotes. Yet, she's telling a six year old, odd.
