out whispered. Spoken the way a room speaks when no one is inside it flat, empty, and slightly too late.

She sat up on the thin mattress in her rented room in Bandung. The fan clicked on its lowest setting. The street below was quiet the way Indonesian nights sometimes are after two in the morning: motorcycles gone, warung lights dead, only the distant hiss of a leaking pipe. Her phone on the floor showed 02:17. No notifications. No missed calls.

The voice came again.

*Mira.*

She knew that voice. It was hers.

Mira swung her legs off the bed. The concrete floor was colder than it should have been. She crossed the two steps to the window and looked down. The alley was the same cracked concrete, the same rusted satellite dish, the same stray cat that lived under the neighbor's water tank. Nothing moved.

Then the wall beside her wardrobe changed.
