Chapter 1 - The Game of Midnight Murder

Chapter : 1 The beginning of the storm

Tick! Tick! Tick! Tick! It is 12am now. 27th December! The same time, same date and same moment when I lost my hope, my entire world and my freedom.

Hello! I am Jennifer Jason, a girl from Jamaica. Today is my birthday. I invite all my friends and family members. But it's already midnight and nobody is here. Nobody wishes me. Hahaha!

Shocked, right? Let me tell you that I am not a human, I am a ghost, I died a few days ago. So who will wish me? Nobody! Hahaha!

The air around me is heavy. The room is full of silence. I am feeling like I want to go but something is stopping me. Maybe the moments with my friends, with my family. Everything was feeling unreal, my birthday cake, candles and my gifts also the bloody knife.

I remembered all the memories I had with my mom, dad and my siblings. Nothing has changed in my room but I changed a lot. I saw a paper on my desk beside my cake. I opened it. The words were simple but incredible

"Find the truth behind the lie "

For a moment I lost faith in one person. I couldn't believe that she could do something like that. I understand the meaning of the line.

I become silent but something breaks this silence. The sound of someone's foot. I can realize that there is someone with me. Somewhere in my room. And that stopped my breath. I realized that the storm has begun, the rain has begun and the fight has started.

Chapter : 2 Whispers in the dark

The footsteps become deep. My breath becomes fast. Who is this? Who is coming? Now the air is heavier and colder. I can hear a voice. Rough voice I can identify the person. The person wears a black dress. He is finding something.

Damn it! Where is the knife?

I know this voice. He is our new neighbour. Mr. Robert Kane. A very mysterious character. He is searching for the bloody knife. So is he the killer? Maybe yes!

He finds the knife under the bed, beside my dead body but why does he come after an hour? Was he trying to escape? He is laughing and saying : "Oh my dear! Your birthday becomes your last day on earth! So sad! " Hahaha! He opens the door and looks outside. There was no one there so he decided to go back to his home.

I can hear another sweet voice coming toward me. Yes I can recognise it is my best friend Alina. The door is opened so she can see my dead body. She runs toward my dead body and sits down beside me. Mr Robert is still here now, waiting for the next victim,my best friend. I can't tell my friend to move and everything is over. He kills Alina. He bursts into evil laughter. Alina's bloody dead body makes me sad. I remember those days when we used to play on the playground together, share food, and make food together. I remember her beautiful smile, sweet voice and two black eyes. I won't be able to hear her voice, to see her smile and eyes. How can a new neighbour who is like our dad do these just for buying the house? Now I can understand what was written on the paper. Mr Robert's truth was hiding behind lies for days.

Mr Robert is calling someone. I can hear this voice but can't recognise it. It is raining heavily outside. My Robert says :

My work is done. I got everything that I wanted. Hahahahaha!!

It is still raining but the fire of my heart that wants revenge is not blown up. I will take revenge for me, for my best friend and for my entire world. I will change the whole scenario of this game. Mr Robert, I will come. Jenifer will come.

Chapter : 3 The entry of third eye

The rain has stopped. The road is fully wet. The whole night passed with tension and sadness. It is 6am. My mom told me that she will come fast after finishing her trip and she will reach at 6am. I can hear the sound of shoes. Yes, it's my mom. She is coming.

Jeni!....Jeni!

She is calling me but I can't open the door. She touches the door and it is opened automatically. My mom becomes speechless. Seeing her like this made my eyes fill with water. She comes near to our body. She called our name again and again but no response came from our mouth. My mom started shouting. All the people who live here come and enter my house. I notice Mr Robert too. Everybody is telling my mom to call the police but she becomes stone after losing two daughters. Yes, my mom loved Alina like her daughter. And I didn't like this. Why will my mom love my friend as her daughter? One person calls the police and after 30 mins they come. The room was totally messy. Half melted cake, blood and candles everywhere. The policemen also get shocked after seeing double dead bodies. I see Mr Robert comes in front of our bodies and says

Oh! My girls! Who did these to you? God will surely punish them.

Yes Mr Robert, god will punish them but not them god will punish you. I will punish you. I will take revenge. Just wait and see what happens next.

A car stops in front of my house. A big green Ambassador. A person comes out with a brown coat, brown hat and black sunglasses. His name is Ethan George. Maybe he is a Detective. He enters my house and starts talking with police officers. Such an interesting character.

"Hello! Mr. George, we really think that only you can solve this case. The murderer is very clever he truly left no clues "

It's okay Mr. Officer. Every person has a weakness. Maybe his weakness will help us to solve this case. I think his weakness will work more than any clue.

Yes Mr. George! We believe in you. You are our last torch bearer.

Their conversation was really interesting. I know what Mr. Robert's weakness is. He wore a mask when he came into my room. I wish I could help Mr. George but I am not able to help him.

Scene : 1

[ At the dining room, Mr. George is inquiring everybody]

Characters : Jennifer's Mother, Mr. Robert Kane, other people who live in their society]

Mr. George : So Mrs. Jason, who killed your daughter you think?

Mother : My daughter was a kind girl. She had no enemies. She was an established engineer. I don't think she had enemies. But I also don't believe it is a suicide case.

Mr. George : Thanks, Mrs. Jason. Mr. Kane! The new neighbour! A retired teacher. I heard that you were kicked out of your school because you did such bad things. Am I right, Mr. Kane?

Mr. Robert Kane : Shut up. Mr. George. I know you are a detective but you have no right to insult me. You are forgetting that I am your senior.

Mr. George : Oh! My mistake. But why are you sweating? You know you are not the killer. Right?

Mr. Robert Kane : Umm…umm. I am not the killer. I didn't do anything.

Mr. George : Have I told you that you are the killer?

Mr. Robert Kane : I just say.

Mr. George : No problem. It's okay. So that's all for today. Thank you everyone for helping me.

Scene 2

: [At Mr. Robert's house ]

Mr. Robert : Ohh Shit! I made a major mistake. I had to stay calm. How can I forget this? OMG!

Mr. George : May I come in? Maybe you forgot your handkerchief at the crime spot.

Mr. Robert : Yes. It slipped down from my pocket. Thank you.

Mr. George : Okay. Goodbye.

Mr. Robert : Thank God. He hadn't doubted me.

[At Jennifer 's house]

Mr. George is really clever. I hope he will be able to catch Mr. Robert. But I will also help him. I will help the third eye, Mr. George, to solve this case. Mr. George, I am coming. Jennifer is coming.

Chapter : 4 The shadow speaks

Night is finished. 28th December . My body is buried and so is my best friend 's. My mother can't stop crying. I am feeling sorry for her. How innocent she is! How many dreams she had about me! But everything is finished. Mr. George comes and enters my room. Today he will search for clues. This is the right time to give him a clue. I stand in front of the mirror and write CAKE. Yes,it is Mr. Robert's weakness. I hope Mr. George will be able to find it.

My mom is still crying. Everybody is present in the room but where is Mr. Robert? Is he planning to kill Mr. George? But why? Just because he doubted him? Ohh God! I can't think. Boots grawled Mr. Robert! He entered. Everyone is silent. Mr George said : so everyone is here. Can I start searching?

Everybody agrees. And he starts searching. He is searching every corner of the room. "What can be the murderer's weakness "? Yes! I get the chance to tell him. I drop a showpiece which was in front of my mirror. And Mr. George looks at the mirror. He shouts! "Cake! Birthday cake! Cake is the murderer's weakness. I get it " Mr. George says.

Mr. Robert asks him how can cake be someone's weakness? Are you mad?

"No Mr. Kane, I am not mad. Nuts are used to make cakes so why can't cake be someone's weakness? Mr. Robert laughs and says okay investigate properly.

Mr George says I think I have to investigate now alone. I hope you will come back after an hour. Everyone goes out of the room. It is my chance. My last chance to speak with Mr. Ethan. But he finds a paper and opens it.

Behind every truth another truth always hides

Jennifer was really intelligent. She hid something that was only known by her. Nice!

Yes I was clever! I am speaking. I can speak. I did it.

Who is this? Who? It's me Jennifer Jason! Are you…? Yes I am a ghost now. But I know everything. Who killed me and why killed me?

Nice! Good job! Mr. Detective! Mr. Robert said. I knew that you would find the killer and yes it's me. But you won't be able to expose me! Hahaha!

What will you do? You asshole! How can you do this? How can you kill two girls just for property? You won't get anything. Even today if you kill me you will be exposed.

Ohh really! So you want to die? Okay! Let me fulfil your wish. Mr. Robert takes his gun. I am trying to speak but what happens to me? Why can't I speak? I just spoke a few minutes ago. I am trying to shout but a bullet ends Mr. George's life. He is saying : Jennifer do something but I am lonely. I can't touch anybody. Mr. Robert fled away. Everyone comes after hearing the sound of a bullet. But everything is finished. Nothing is in our hands. My mom is standing like a stone. She is shocked and now she faints. I never expected something like that. I don't know whether my mom will be able to stand up again or not. Mr. Robert! Why do you do these? You could want property papers from me I would give you but you take 3 lifes, 3 hopes.

A few people took my mom to the hospital. She is still senseless. Even doctors don't know when she will wake up? My eyes filled with water. Why is God punishing me again and again? What wrong did I do?

Mr. Ethan's body is also taken to bury. Again my room is filled with blood. My expectations never came true when I was alive but today it becomes true. I expected that Mr. Robert would kill him. But where is he? I decide to go to his house. I stand beside his window. I can hear what he is saying. He is happy after killing the detective. He is thinking that he wraps up the case but Mr. Robert, this is just the beginning of this game and the winner will be declared in a few days. I will be the winner. I will win the game. And you will be the winner. I leave his house and come back to my house. I enter my room and I take the family photo of my childhood. My dad, my mom, my brother and me. My dad is very sick now. I don't know when he will get well. He doesn't even know about my death because he can't hear, he can't see and even he can't stand. I really miss my family. We were not too rich but our family was full of enjoyment, full joy. I remember my mom's food, my dad's stories and my brother's argument with me. My brother doesn't live with us. Currently he is living in the UK but you know he never tried to contact us. My family is fully broken. I start crying. I was my mom and dad's eyesight. They trusted me more than anybody else. But look today they lost their eyesight, they lost me only for Mr. Kane. But why? I promise that I will destroy his life, his family and his everything like he did with me. You know I miss my brother and my dad. You know I hadn't even talked with them for 5months. I want to meet them and I hope one day I will. Look at the big star in the sky, maybe it's Mr. George who is killed just for me. I could have saved him but I didn't. Maybe his family is also missing him. Maybe he was the eyesight of his family just like me. No worries Mr. George Jennifer will take revenge for you. Sleep Mr. Kane after you wake up the entire game will be changed. Count your hours. I am coming.

Chapter : 5 : The new letter

It's been two days since Ethan George's death. The rain has stopped but my room still smells like blood and fear. My mother is at the hospital lost between life and tears. Mr. Robert hasn't been seen since last night. But I know he is watching everything and planning.

This morning, the silence breaks again. At about 9am a postman comes to my house to give a letter. The policemen receive the letter. But this is written with red ink. It is written that

For the houses that's lost It's light.

The police officers take it and think that it is another sympathy letter. But it is not something like that. It smells like death, like blood. One police officer opens it slowly so as not to smudge the letters inside. One page only but no signature.

The game isn't over. The first two were lessons. Something big is waiting for you. What's next Jennifer?

My name! Bold, clear like a wound on a paper. Who is the main player of this game?

OMG! What's this? Nobody notices that the ink is shimmering. It's blood not red ink. Whose blood is it? Mine? My blood?

But I am already dead. Who can hurt me? Is this person an astrologer?

The police are confused. They are thinking that someone is trying to scare the family. But it's not true. Someone knows me. Someone can see me. But who is this? The postman? I have to follow the postman.

I am following the postman. He stops his bicycle. He is pale, nervous and sweating. He again starts his cycle but something falls down from his pocket. It is an envelope. I open it. A black card and a R symbol on it. I had never seen it before. Is it for Mr.Robert? There is a candle sign. I am sure that it is Robert Kane's mark. He really loves candles. But a chill air passes through me, whispering

Not Robert. Someone above him.

Who is controlling him?

Who is playing the entire game?

The sky is looking darker. Is it a sign of a new storm? Is a storm coming? The wind around me is carrying the smell of ashes. Someone else enters in this game, someone who is worse than Robert. And the game? The game has no rules.

I decide to follow the postman again. He turns left and then right. The envelope in my hands became as cold as ice. I reach at the postman's house. I can hear a voice. I have to hear it.

Did you deliver the letter?

Yes, dad. I delivered.

Good. Everyone should know who killed Jennifer.

It was Robert, dad.

No. He pulled the knife but the plan wasn't his.

What? What is he saying? Was there someone behind Robert?

The shadow is not very far from me. A man, wearing a white dress,a black mask and a white hat.

The postman looks scared.

Who was it? Dad?

You will know it soon, the mask man says.

Welcome back Jennifer Jason. Welcome to the new lesson of this game, he says.

I freeze. He can hear me. But how? I say who are you? He says I am the one who gave you life. Rain starts and he leaves fast. I say wait, please tell me the truth. He whispers you were never murdered, you were just chosen. The rain has started so I can't see him. But who is he?

I was chosen? What is he saying? Who chose me? Why? So the third person enters in this game. Which way will the game turn?

I should go back to my home. I have to think. Let's see what happens next?

Chapter : 6 : Echoes of the dark

What did he try to say to me?... Why was I chosen? Why me…..

The rain has stopped but the sky is not clear. I am sitting beside the big window of my room watching the moonlight dancing on the glass. Everything seems peaceful but inside of my heart, something is whispering!

Jenifer!

The voice is rude. It's kind and soft. It's not Robert, it's not my mom. But the voice is familiar. I turn around and the curtain flutters though no wind enters. I step forward.

Who is there? Who are you? Speak! Please speak!

I can hear my voice. However I can't hear anything. No voice, only silence. I think it's my mistake but I hear the voice again.

It's me Jennifer. Find me!

The bed beside the mirror blurs. A shadow! That same shadow I saw in the afternoon then a person enters, white dress, white hand and black mask. Yes, this is the person who told me that I was chosen.

My heart races again. I know this voice. I heard it before. Not from any stranger, from a known one, from someone I trusted. But who is this? I shout. Who are you? What do you want from me?

He says, I told you I gave you life. You forgot me, Jennifer.

I don't know you, I say. But I can't trust my own voice. I know I heard it before. The voice carries the same tone, same warmth and same pause that Mr. Ethan had. But how can it be possible? I saw Ethan was shooted. I saw his blood. He is no more.

Y..you tell me where did I see you before? I say stepping forward.

He steps back. "You still don't remember me. You are still lost in the world of death."He drops something from his hand. A brown hat. I can recognise this hat. The same one Ethan always wore.

My eyes widened. No, it can't be true. I pick up that hat. I see a badge, a golden badge. E.George. Mr. Ethan, is that you? No answer comes. The wind becomes colder. The shadow slowly becomes invisible, it's losing through the fog. Mr. Ethan! Mr. Ethan! Listen.

I rush outside desperately. My location is the graveyard. After a few minutes I reach the graveyard. I have to find Mr. Ethan's coffin, there it is. I find it. The nameplate is glowing under the moonlight.

ETHAN GEORGE (THE GOAT) 1885-2024.

But the soil looks disturbed. Someone has opened it.

Mr. George is not there. Where is he? The grave is empty.

I hear footsteps again. Slow, steady. The air is heavy. The same shadow and the same person. He laughs..

I say, "You! You were dead ". How can you come here again?

He is still laughing. I told you Ms. Jennifer Jason the game has no end. Hahahaha!

He is again losing in the fog.

I notice that he is wearing a detective badge, a golden badge. It is Mr. Ethan's Detective badge. He is losing. For the last time he smiles and says I will come back, Jennifer. The case will be solved and the second part of the game begins.

He lost in the dark. My surroundings is silent. No people. No light. Even though there is no tree. I sit down. My eyes filled with water. Why are these things happening to me? What did I do? If it's really you, why aren't you coming in front of everybody? Why is my life full of curses? Why does your face bring back the night I lost everything? Sob…sob…sob…

 Chapter : 7 : The silver key.

The night had fallen heavier than before.

The city is sleeping , but the air around my house is still alive — whispering, watching, waiting.

A thick fog crept through the window cracks. The candles flickered one by one, and with every flicker, I felt a new presence… darker, sharper.

I could hear boots on the road. Not Mr. Robert's — this sound was steady, confident, almost rhythmic.

And then I saw him.

A man in a black mask and long white coat, standing just beyond the broken gate.

His face was hidden, his eyes unreadable. But his silence was heavier than thunder.

He spoke slowly, his voice low and calm —

You are not alone Jennifer. The game just changes its rules.

My heart races.

That voice — I know it. I have heard it in this very house, before my death. But where? From whom?

He took one step forward.

You were chosen because you were something extraordinary.

Who are you? I whispered, even though my voice no longer carried through the world of the living.

The man tilted his head slightly

Name doesn't matter. The truth matters. The hidden truth

Then, from inside his coat, he dropped a small silver key onto the floor. It shimmered faintly in the dim light, engraved with a single letter — E.

Before I could move closer, he vanished into the mist. The fog swallowed him whole, leaving behind only the echo of his words —

The next door is waiting for you. Jennifer. Go. Go and find it.

I stare at the key. E.

E for Ethan? But Ethan was dead. Wasn't he?

For the first time since my death, I feel fear stronger than my rage. But this is not the end

The night crawls toward dawn.

The fog still hugs the ground like a ghost refusing to leave.

I was standing in front of the silver key, its shine cold, almost alive.

My hands trembles as I picked it up. On the edge of the key, something was engraved — not just the letter E, but a number too. "E-13."

E for Ethan.

13 for death.

Coincidence? I didn't think so.

The air grows colder as I followed the sound of the wind. It leads me to the basement — a place my mother never allowed me to enter when I was alive. The door looked old, cracked, almost forgotten. But the keyhole? It looked new, polished, like someone had used it recently.

I insert the key. Click!

The door opened with a sound that sliced through silence.

Inside, the air smelled of wax and rust. Candle stubs were scattered on a wooden table. The walls were covered with old photographs — my photographs.

Me as a child. Me in college. Me on my last birthday.

And in the center of the wall, written in red:

"Every death begins with a memory."

My heartbeat — if I still had one — quickened.

Who would write this? How did they get my pictures?

A black diary lay on the table.

I turned the first page. It was full of handwriting I recognized — mine.

"I chose the game. I chose the storm.

I wanted the truth, even if it killed me."

I stepped back. My shadow on the wall looked different — taller, darker, not mine.

And then a voice whispered near my ear, cold as death:

"You wrote it, Jennifer. You just forgot."

I turned. The man in the black mask was standing at the basement door.

The faint glow of the candle made his white coat shimmer.

"You... you're not real," I said.

He tilted his head.

"Neither are you."

The candle blew out.

For the last time I am asking you who you are? Tell me.

I told you once I am that person who gave you life. Still can't remember me? Hahahaha! Jennifer you can't. You can't.

Chapter : 8 The newcomer

I am really happy today. My mother will come home from the hospital at night.

(At night)

My mother comes back but still very weak. I wish I could help her.

However the night is cold, the streets empty. The lights of the city flickers as if they are scared to stay awake. Inside a small newsroom, a man sits before a glowing screen, his fingers moving fast on the keyboard. Tap. Tap. Tap.

A half-finished headline stared back at him —

"The Ghost of 27th December Still Whispers…"

He leans back in his chair. The glow of the monitor lit up his face — sharp eyes, pale skin, and a calmness that felt dangerous. His name is Noah Black, a journalist known for solving mysteries, but his eyes carried something deeper — as if he doesn't just write about secrets, he creates them.

He whispers, almost smiling,

"Jennifer Jason… your story isn't over yet."

The next morning, rain still covers the town like a memory that refused to fade. Noah arrived at Jennifer's old house, pretending to be a journalist revisiting the case. His steps were confident, his gaze unshaken. My mom looks at him with tired eyes.

Mrs. Jason: "You're the journalist, right? From The Global Voice?"

Noah: "Yes, ma'am. I'm here to find the truth. I promise… no mother will cry again for what happened here."

His voice was gentle, almost healing. But Jennifer's spirit, standing at the corner of the room, feels her heart twist

She whispered softly,

"Why does his voice sound like the night I died?"

The air grew heavier. Every time Noah looked around the house, Jennifer felt a strange pull — like he could see her even though she was invisible. He picked up her diary from the table, slowly flipping the pages with careful fingers.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

Noah: "Finally... the last piece of my creation."

Hours later, Noah returned to his apartment. The walls were filled with newspaper clippings of Jennifer's death — every angle, every witness, every rumor. Red strings connected photos — Jennifer, Alina, Mr. Robert, Ethan George... and even Mrs. Jason.

He touched Jennifer's picture, whispering,

"You never understood, did you, Jennifer? You were never just a victim in my story. You were my beginning."

He turned toward a small box on his desk and opened it. Inside lay a blood-stained knife — the same one from Jennifer's birthday night.

He stared at it with emotionless eyes, murmuring,

"The storm is coming again."

That night, thunder rolled over the sky. Jennifer appeared in his room, her face half-hidden in the dark, voice trembling between anger and fear.

Jennifer: "You… You were there. You were there that night!"

Noah (calmly): "Of course I was. How could I miss the masterpiece I created?"

Jennifer's eyes widened.

Jennifer: "You killed me!"

Noah: "No, Jennifer. You killed yourself — I just gave your story an ending."

He smiled, stepping closer, his eyes glowing in the lightning's flash.

Noah: "But don't worry. The world isn't ready for your truth yet.

He blows out the candle on his desk.

The room falls into complete darkness.

Jennifer's voice echoes faintly — not in anger this time, but in heartbreak.

"Maybe some stories should never have been written…"

And somewhere in the silence, the faint click of a typewriter began again.

That's absolutely perfect, Tilottama. 💔 It connects everything — her pain, her loneliness, her broken trust, and why she became "honest but distant." It also makes her calm reaction to Alina's death hauntingly believable. Let's blend that into the final version of Chapter 9, with all the details you created — Jennifer's betrayals, trauma, and emotional numbness after the attacks.

Here's the full, heart-shattering draft — the version that will make readers both ache and understand her.

Chapter : 9 The stone that she hides in her heart.

The rain hit the old windows like glass tears. Inside, the candlelight is flickering across three faces — Ethan, Noah, and the faint, smoky reflection of Jennifer. The air is thick with unspoken sins.

The time has come for the truth.

Scene : 1 The present.

Ethan stares at her reflection, trembling in the mirror.

"Jennifer… I didn't want it to end like this," he says, voice cracking.

Jennifer's smoky figure tilted her head.

Her voice is soft, but her words slices like blades.

"You already ended it years ago, Ethan. The day you stole my life."

The shadows trembled around her. Her eyes — the same kind he once admired — now held the darkness of a thousand storms.

Scene : 2 The flashback : Engineering and Technology University of Kingston, Jamaica.

Once upon a time, I had everything.

Dreams. Laughter. Friends I thought would last forever.

Jennifer Jason,  the brilliant young student who dreamed of changing the world, had designed a groundbreaking energy project — something that could rewrite science itself. I spent sleepless nights working on it, believing my one and only best friend Ethan George would help me. And he did — until the day came to choose glory over friendship

He stole my codes. My words. My entire creation.

Standing on the auditorium stage, he accepted the award for her work, while I watched from the last row, frozen in disbelief. But I could get it. The applause that should've been mine roared in someone else's name.

After the ceremony, I found him behind the hall, his golden medal gleaming under the lights.

"You betrayed me, Ethan."

He smiled — that cruel, confident smile.

"No, Jen. I just learned how to win. You were too soft. That's not how the world works."

That night, she climbed to the rooftop — barefoot, shaking. The wind was wild, her eyes swollen with tears.

"If being kind means being crushed," she whispered, "then maybe I don't belong here."

One step.

A scream.

A fall.

And silence.

She survived — but she never truly lived again.

Six months in a coma stole her youth. And when she opened her eyes, the world had already moved on.

Do you know who this "he"? Mr. Ethan George. He took everything. Yes it was just a project but I could get global recognition. But it stopped me. The person stopped me, cut my wings.

Scene : 3 Alina - The second betrayal.

Alina — the girl who once braided her hair before class, the one who called my sister — became my last illusion.

After the accident, I trusted her blindly. But Alina's heart had turned cold with envy.

During the inter-university finals, Alina saw I was getting the top rank, the award, the recognition she'd always craved.

So she made a cruel choice.

I suffered from nyctophobia — a paralyzing fear of darkness. Alina knew that. Yet she turned off the lights, locked the lab door, and walked away.

I screamed until my voice broke.

My heart pounded against my chest, fighting for air.

And then — it stopped.

A major heart attack. Another hospital bed. Another betrayal.

When she woke again, something inside my heart was gone.

My laughter. My warmth. My trust.

I never made friends again.

I never dared to talk much.

I lived quietly — afraid of people, afraid of love, afraid of light and dark alike.

My mother used to tell me "No matter how hard life hits, stay honest, Jenni. Don't let lies make you cruel."

So I did. I stayed honest — painfully, brutally honest — even when it made me alone.

And maybe that's why, when Robert killed Alina, I didn't cry.

I didn't scream too much.

I just stood there — silent.

Because some wounds are too deep to bleed again. I lost my two friends. And you know what I lost myself at that time when I lost them.

Scene : 4 The confrontation

Back in the present, Jennifer's smoky form hovered closer to Ethan.

"Do you know what's funny?" she says, voice trembling. "You thought I'd forget. You thought time would erase what you did. But pain doesn't die, Ethan. It just learns how to hide."

Ethan backs away, terrified.

"Jenni, I was young! I didn't know what I was doing—"

"You did," she whispered. "And so did Alina. You both killed the girl I was. Now I'll return the favor."

The air thickened. The candlelight becomes red.

The mirror cracks, splitting his reflection into pieces.

Ethan gaspes clutching his chest.

"Jennifer—please—"

Did you think about me when you were betrayed? Did you think about your best friend Jennifer? So why will I think about you today? Who are you? A Detective, a GOAT people say.But you're not greatest you're the worst of all time.

But her smoky hands reaches forward, and in a single breath — it is over

The thunder outside screams her name, then fades.

When Noah stepped into the room, Ethan's body lay lifeless, eyes wide in shock.

Scene : 5 The smoke and silence.

Noah whispered, trembling,

"Jennifer… this isn't who you were."

Her ghostly face turns toward him, fragile but fierce.

"I didn't become this, Noah. The world built me piece by piece — betrayal by betrayal, silence by silence. Villains aren't born. They're made… by the ones who break them."

Noah's eyes fills with tears.

"You were just a girl who wanted to be seen."

"And they turned me into a shadow," she says softly. "Now I'll haunt the silence they left behind."

Her voice trembles — half sob, half sigh.

"Don't mourn me, Noah. Just remember me… as the girl who never stopped being honest, even when honesty cost her everything."

The storm quiets.

Her smoke begins to fade.

And as the candle went out, her final whisper echoed in the dark:

"Goodbye… My unfinished story."

Chapter : 10 The final whisper

The sky looks heavier tonight — painted with clouds that carried every tear I have ever cried.

A soft drizzle begins to fall over the silent city, the same way it did on the night I died.

Inside the dimly lit house, everything feels frozen in time.

The walls still whisper her laughter, the floor remembers her footsteps, and the clock — that cursed clock — ticks at the same rhythm as 12:00 a.m., the moment my entire world had shattered.

My mother lays in bed, breathing faintly.

The doctor's voice comes from the next room, low and unsure.

"Her condition is fragile. One more shock, and she won't survive."

My father, blind and weak, sits beside me, holding my trembling hand.

He can't speak, but his silence screams louder than words.

I stand by the doorway, unseen.

Invisible to the world I once belonged to.

My heart — what remained of it — ached to reach out.

"Mom… Dad… please… don't go. I'm here."

But my voice was just air — a broken whisper that no one could hear.

A photo frame fell from the wall. The sound startled her mother awake.

"Jennifer?" she whispered, eyes half open.

A cold breeze brushed her cheek — her daughter's unseen touch.

The light flickers. The rain grows louder.

Her father's head fell forward; his grip loosens

Her mother gasps once… twice… and silence fills the room.

Two souls leave the world hand in hand.

And I am watching them go — unable to follow, unable to stop crying.

"You both left me again," I whisper, voice trembling.

"But this time… maybe I'm the one who stays too long."

I walk through the dark hallway one last time.

Every corner flashes with my memories — Alina's laughter, Ethan's betrayal, the blood on her own hands.

Every moment echoes like thunder — loud, endless, cruel.

Outside, lightning flashes — and a camera clicks.

A man stands in the rain, his silhouette barely visible.

Noah Black.

Journalist. Manipulator. The player in the dark.

He is holding a wet file under his arm — titled:

"The Jennifer Case: Truth Still Unknown."

His eyes glimmers with something sharp — not pity, not guilt, but calculation.

"The game isn't over," he mutters before disappearing into the night.

I lift my face toward the sky.

The drizzle has stopped.

A faint white glow surrounds me, soft and weightless.

Maybe peace. Maybe an illusion.

Her voice — calm, broken, and beautiful — drifted with the wind:

"Truth is never buried, Mom… it only sleeps… waiting to wake again."

The room falls silent.

The broken photo frame shimmers for a moment.

And somewhere far away, the clock struck twelve.

Tick! Tick! Tick! Tick!

Then, a flash — a newspaper page flutters across the screen of time.

(The next morning)

The Daily Chronicle  — 3rd January

Headline: "Mysterious Deaths of Jason Family Still Unsolved — Witness Claims to See Their Daughter's Shadow Near The Graveyard."

A soft wind blows through the pages.

A whisper follows — faint, fragile, unforgettable.

Surely people will forget me one day. One day, Jamaica will be peaceful again. But the stone that I kept in her heart for days; it can't be removed. The dreams, the wishes are not fulfilled. I am leaving the world but now I am happy, I got what I wanted. I take my revenge. Goodbye Jamaica. Goodbye World. From now Jennifer is a star in the sky. Just find and I will come to talk with you. Goodbye….goodbye….goodbye….
