The Path Into the Forest
The night passed without peace.
Even after the strange voice faded, Maya could not sleep.
The words echoed again and again inside her mind.
Find me… before it's too late…
It did not feel like a dream.
It felt like a call.
A purpose.
Something that was waiting for her.
Morning came slowly.
The sky was still covered with clouds, but the rain had finally stopped. The village looked quiet, almost too quiet.
As if something was about to happen.
Inside the farmhouse, Arjun prepared a small bag.
He packed dry food, a water flask, a rope, and a knife.
His movements were steady.
Decided.
He had already made his choice.
Maya stood near the door, watching him.
"You're really going?" she asked softly.
Her voice carried both hope and worry.
Arjun looked up at her.
"Yes," he replied.
"If that voice is real… then we need answers."
He paused for a moment.
"And I won't let you face it alone."
Maya's heart tightened slightly.
She was not used to someone standing beside her like this.
Without fear.
Without doubt.
Without conditions.
"But the village…" she said slowly.
"They already suspect me."
Arjun nodded.
"I know."
His voice remained calm.
"But staying here won't change anything."
He looked directly into her eyes.
"If there is truth in that forest… we will find it."
Silence passed between them.
Then slowly—
Maya nodded.
"Alright," she whispered.
A few minutes later, they stepped out of the farmhouse together.
The air felt fresh after the rain.
The ground was still wet, and small drops of water clung to the leaves.
The path toward the forest stretched ahead.
Dark.
Quiet.
Unknown.
As they walked through the village, people noticed them.
Some watched silently.
Others whispered.
Fear and suspicion filled their eyes.
No one spoke to Maya.
No one greeted her.
Arjun felt anger rise inside him.
But he stayed calm.
He simply walked forward.
Closer to Maya.
Protective.
At the edge of the village, Hari Das stood waiting.
His wooden staff rested firmly in his hand.
His expression looked serious.
"You are leaving," he said.
It was not a question.
Arjun nodded.
"Yes."
Hari Das's eyes moved toward Maya.
A long silence followed.
Then he spoke again.
"The forest is not safe."
His voice carried warning.
"Strange things happen there."
Maya felt a chill run through her body.
But she did not step back.
Instead, she spoke quietly.
"I think… I belong there."
Hari Das studied her carefully.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
As if trying to see something hidden beneath the surface.
After a moment, he stepped aside.
"Then go," he said.
"But be careful."
His voice softened slightly.
"Not everything in that forest wants to be found."
Arjun and Maya exchanged a quick glance.
Then they continued forward.
The forest welcomed them with silence.
Tall trees blocked most of the sunlight, creating a dim green world filled with shadows.
The air felt cooler.
Heavier.
Different.
Every sound echoed clearly.
Every movement felt important.
Maya walked slowly.
Her eyes moved from tree to tree.
From shadow to shadow.
A strange feeling guided her.
Like an invisible thread pulling her deeper inside.
"Do you feel it?" she asked quietly.
Arjun looked at her.
"Feel what?"
She hesitated.
"Something… calling me."
Arjun did not fully understand.
But he trusted her.
"If you feel it, we follow it," he said.
Hours passed as they moved deeper into the forest.
The path became rougher.
The trees grew taller.
The silence grew stronger.
At one point, Maya suddenly stopped.
Her breath caught slightly.
"It's here," she whispered.
Arjun looked ahead.
At first, he saw nothing unusual.
Just trees.
Shadows.
Stone.
Then—
He noticed it.
Hidden between thick vines and moss-covered rocks—
A structure.
Old.
Ancient.
They stepped closer.
The vines moved slightly as Maya touched them.
Almost as if they recognized her.
The ruins revealed themselves slowly.
Broken stone walls.
Faded carvings.
Strange symbols glowing faintly under the surface.
Maya's heart beat faster.
The same warmth returned.
Stronger than ever.
"I've seen this before…" she whispered.
Her voice filled with disbelief.
"But I don't remember how."
Arjun looked around carefully.
Something about this place felt different.
Powerful.
Unnatural.
Suddenly—
The symbols on the wall began to glow.
Bright silver light spread across the stone.
The ground trembled slightly.
Wind moved through the ruins.
Maya stepped forward slowly.
Her hand lifted without her control.
The light responded instantly.
Stronger.
Brighter.
Arjun watched in shock.
"Maya—"
But before he could finish—
The ground beneath them shifted.
A hidden door opened slowly inside the ruins.
Dust fell from above.
Darkness revealed itself below.
A hidden chamber.
Maya's eyes widened.
The voice returned.
Clear.
Close.
"You have come…"
Arjun grabbed her hand instantly.
His grip firm.
Protective.
"Stay close," he said.
Maya nodded.
Her heart raced.
Fear and curiosity mixed together.
Together—
They stepped into the darkness.
Behind them, the stone door slowly began to close.
Sealing the entrance.
Cutting off the outside world.
And deep inside the hidden chamber—
Something ancient awakened.
Two glowing eyes opened in the darkness.
Watching them.
Waiting.
The journey had begun.
And there was no turning back.
