Chapter 1 — "The Day the System Rejected Him"
The system did not fail.
It rejected him.
Aren Valis stood in the Awakening Hall, surrounded by hundreds of students whose futures were already being written in light.
Fire users.
Lightning wielders.
Beasts of raw strength.
Every hand on the crystal created destiny.
Every destiny was accepted.
Except his.
Aren stepped forward.
The hall grew quiet.
Not respectful silence.
Judging silence.
His palm touched the awakening crystal.
Nothing happened.
No glow.
No pulse.
No sound.
Just emptiness.
The crystal turned slightly dark… as if it was refusing to respond.
A whisper spread through the crowd.
"Is it broken?"
"No… it's him."
The examiner frowned and checked the device beside the crystal.
Seconds passed.
Then came the sentence:
"ERROR… NO CLASS DETECTED."
The hall froze.
Then laughter exploded.
"NO CLASS?"
"Is that even possible?"
"Does he even exist in the system?"
Aren didn't move.
But inside his chest, something cracked.
Fifteen years of training.
Fifteen years of hope.
All reduced to a single word.
Zero.
The examiner waved his hand coldly.
"Next."
As if he was already erased.
Aren stepped back slowly.
No one looked at him anymore.
To them, he was already gone.
Outside the hall, cold wind hit his face.
For the first time, the world felt… empty.
He laughed once.
Short.
Broken.
"…So this is it?"
But then—
A flicker appeared in his vision.
Not outside.
Inside.
[UNKNOWN SIGNAL DETECTED]
Aren froze.
"What…?"
The air around him distorted slightly.
Like reality itself hesitated.
Then the message changed:
[WARNING: SYSTEM RESPONSE BLOCKED]
His hand burned suddenly.
"Ghh—!"
Aren fell to one knee, gripping his arm.
Blue cracks of light spread across his skin for half a second… then vanished.
Silence returned.
But something had already changed.
Deep inside the system that rejected him…
Something had answered back.
And far away—
Something opened its eyes.
