Black joy in little black boys
I seen black joy
In a little black boy
Whose name was Troy
It wasn't over some toy
It was for freedom to be
On a better side of history
Of you and me
Black folks, you see.
I seen true happiness
Safety and nothing less
Only the best
Dancing in the street, blessed
Heaven came down to us
And our children lead us
The next generation thus
Closer and closer to heaven's prayer for us.
I seen black joy
In a little black boy
Whose name was Troy….
