Chapter 14 - Report 10.5- Mana Burst

Soon after school ended Albert returned home.

"Albert I have to say you are a rather powerful human! I have seen many others, but you are a cut above them!" Mélusine said in her physical form.

"Thank you. So Mélusine after a quick bite and a change of clothes we are going to train to use this Dragon Heart."

"Yes!!" she said gleefully. "Oh, Albert, by the way, do you love Tsuyu Asui?"

"Hm?" Albert raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?"

"Because if you hold affections to another I wish to know so I may be of better help to you."

"I see… Well… I guess I do like her. But I don't know what exactly constitutes love. Do you know?"

"It would seem we both are at a loss for love."

"We can worry about that later. For now I wish to learn the new tools that I have."

"I know the perfect place for us to go!"

After cooking the boar meat and changing clothes Mélusine flew Albert to the woods of Japan, far from any human life or civilization. To where she hunted the boars.

"So before we start I have some questions about what a servant is?" Albert asked stretching.

"Servants are legendary heroes or historical figures summoned by mages to participate in the Holy Grail War, a battle for the granting of a wish." Mélusine replied following along with Albert.

"Oh that's really cool! So you were a legendary hero?"

"Well… it's a bit complicated in my case, I bare the name Lancelot and some of his skills but that is where it ends. Personally I would rather not dredge up my past if I can help it."

"Understandable. But I do I know you won't betray me or something, right?"

"Do you still not trust me even after everything that happen to get us to this point?"

Albert shrugged his shoulders.

"You do carry the name of one of the worlds most famed betrayers, Lancelot. He is right up there with Benedict Arnold, Vidkun Quisling, and Brutus."

He didn't have a bad impression on Mélusine nor a great one to warrant such trust. It is too soon to judge her for now, so she has a very neutral impression. But he feels as though he can trust her fairly well.

"Well so long as you have your command seals, those red marks on your right hand. I won't do anything you do not want. They act as chains to us servants to do their masters bidding, hence the naming."

"Ah. Is there anything else? Like what class are you again?"

"I am Lancer!"

"I don't see any spears on you?"

She held her arm out and her sword-like weapon appeared.

"This brings up another thing! This is my Noble Phantasm! Or well barrowed one I guess. A Noble Phantasm is a Servant's ultimate weapon, ability, or special attack. It represents the peak of a Heroic Spirit's legend or historical achievements. Noble Phantasms are unique and powerful, ranging from legendary weapons to mythical powers or conceptual abilities. In short our myth and legends blow and kill shit."

"Hm. Hm… If there are seven servants why is it called a war? The grail part I get but the war? Why not call it uh… I don't know Murder, Death, Kill?"

"I didn't pick the name don't ask me, okay. Speaking of death we servant do have a Saint Graph."

"Elaborate?"

"Basically our core, our heart if you will. So long as that remains we should be fine, unless our heads are chopped or something big then we should be able to recover within a reasonable amount of time depending on our master's mana."

"Oh that's good to know. Is that everything about a servant?"

"Pretty much, yeah. There is also the calling of my name, please call me either Lancer or Lancelot to hide my identity. Should the other servants and masters learn then they would have a idea on how to beat me."

"Hm so Mélusine is more personal huh?"

"Hm." She nods.

"So by that extension using ones Noble Phantasm is akin to shouting your name to the rooftop huh?"

"Yes, but as I said I am not Lancelot so I can use everything but my true Noble Phantasm."

"Well seems I found a servant that suits me pretty well." Albert lightly smiles.

"I can say the same, I found a strong, intelligent master."

The two stare at one another, confident in one another.

"Alright, Mélusine. What is the first thing to learn?"

"Hm! Okay so you go Zim! Then Zam!!" She said doing some rather expressive and wacky poses.

"…What?"

"You go Zim… and then you zam!"

"… This is going to be a… process."

She was not good at teaching.

"You just do Uwah! Uoo! Zam!!"

"… What is Zam? Uwah?"

It took about three days for Albert to get a grasp on it from her "Teachings" and it showed in his status.

In the dead of night Albert hears a ding.

[Ding! Mana Burst skill added!]

Albert immediately opened his status.

"<>!"

"Huh?" His body began to feel an energy coursing through it.

"Ooh! I can see mana starting to come off you! Did you do something different this time?" Mélusine said.

Albert stops and looks at his arms, they have a transparent energy coming off of him.

"I just imagined pulling out my gun and putting the safety off. I wonder if I imagine putting it back off. Hmm…" He imagines putting the safety back on and the energy stops. "… I was hoping the command seals would be hidden, guess not."

"Well we should celebrate you being able to use Mana Burst in such short amount of time! Or even at all!"

"Should I not been able!?"

"Uhh… sorta. From what I know personally… actually I don't know much. I only ever knew two mages, one was godlike, and the other was a scrappy junkyard dog."

"I see…"

They celebrated this occasion with several cooked boars.

"Mélusine. As much as I grown a taste for boar we will need to stop hunting them, or else there will be no more left."

"….Aww." She looked down with a glum face.

"Also about me being 2% less human and being 2% more dragon, I am worried about that."

"What's to worry! You will only grow more stronger!"

"…Yeah but… Eh. No matter. I doubt you would give proper details on what it would entail."

"Hey!!"

"Am I wrong?"

"No but it's insulting! I wanna do my best for you!"

"There will be time for you to show me. Just… teaching isn't one of them."

"… You don't get a share of the boar I killed!"

Ignoring that. He looked at his status again and saw some changes to it. The most glaring was of course him being 2% less human and 2% more dragon.

"… Mélusine do you have an idea on why I am 2% dragon?"

"I guess it must have come from the bone I fed you the night we met."

He recounts everything from then and sighs.

"There is no change in biology from what I took note of. Except maybe my skeleton."

He throws out a powerful punch the sends a blast of air out.

"Hmm… Bones are perfectly fine, muscles and tendons are somewhat strained. Overall my body has improved."

"Of course! A dragon is a apex species! Even a little bit would make anyone stronger!" Mélusine said as she throws out jabs in the air.

She threw out her jabs so fast the nearby trees were punctured by the force of her punches. This made him think how much more powerful her attacks will be with her Noble Phantasm, add in her innate speed to further bolster her attack.
