Ethan was discharged the following afternoon.
The doctor went over his instructions before allowing him to leave. He needed rest, regular meals, plenty of fluids, and someone nearby in case the dizziness returned. His body had endured too much for too long, and leaving the hospital did not mean he had recovered from it.
Raina stood near the window while he packed his things.
She had expected to feel relieved now that he was well enough to leave. Instead, the uneasiness that had followed her since he woke up remained.
Ethan had barely spoken to her.
He answered the nurses when they needed information, spoke with the doctor, and exchanged a few words with Jonah and Graham. Whenever Raina tried to draw him into conversation, however, his answers were brief and polite before his attention returned to whatever he was doing.
She watched him slide his phone into his bag.
