Third person's POV
A heavy thud jolted Ethan awake.
For several seconds he remained still, trying to understand what had disturbed him. Then the floor shifted beneath him, followed by another deep vibration that travelled through the steel walls.
He pushed himself upright.
The container was moving.
Voices drifted through the metal, muffled beneath the warning beeps of heavy machinery. Ethan turned toward the cargo doors, his pulse quickening as the realization settled in.
They had reached land.
Hope came so suddenly it almost hurt.
For days he had imagined this moment. The doors opening. Someone finding him. A chance to tell them what had happened before whoever had taken him could move him again.
He stumbled toward the doors and began pounding on the steel.
"Hey! Someone is in here!"
The machinery continued.
"Can anybody hear me?"
He struck the doors again.
"Help!"
