( this chapter is told from raina's pov)
I couldn't move.
The sound of the gunshot still echoed inside my head long after the warehouse had fallen silent.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody moved.
For one impossible moment, it felt as though time itself had frozen around Tengu's body.
His eyes remained open, staring at nothing.
Blood spread steadily across the cold concrete beneath him.
Then Ojiisan rose to his feet.
Not hurriedly.
Not triumphantly.
Simply... as though the meeting had reached its natural conclusion.
He brushed an invisible speck of dust from the sleeve of his immaculate suit before turning to one of the mercenaries.
"Clean up this mess."
the man nodded immediately.
" sure thing boss "
Ojiisan's expression never changed.
"Leave no witnesses."
My heart stopped.
I knew exactly what those words meant.
"W-What...?"
I stumbled forward before rough hands caught my arm.
"No..."
My voice cracked.
"No! Grandpa, you can't!"
