Chapter 13 - Jogo VS Shin

Shin had already noticed that Satoru was nowhere to be found in the dust cloud kicked up by Jogo.

Could he have been burned to the point where not even his ashes remained?

No. Based on what Shin knew about him, he had likely teleported back to Tokyo Jujutsu High and would probably drag a whole crowd of people back here in a moment to watch him beat up a Cursed Spirit.

Shin couldn't help but think helplessly to himself, 'Gojo-sensei, are you not even a little worried about my safety? I'm still just a student.'

Before Shin could finish complaining, Jogo had already fired a magma cannon blast at him. Shin raised his Netherite Sword and charged straight through the magma blast, bringing the blade down onto Jogo's head.

Jogo's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't understand how a student still in school could resist his Cursed Technique and appear completely unharmed.

But clearly, this wasn't the time to think about that. He instinctively concentrated a large amount of Cursed Energy into his arms and raised them to block Shin's overhead strike.

Pfft—

Even though Jogo had concentrated his Cursed Energy to defend, the sharp Netherite Sword still managed to carve a wound into his arm that was deep enough to expose the bone.

Jogo grabbed the blade of the Netherite Sword with his other hand and stomped his foot against the ground. Suddenly, a small volcano erupted beneath Shin's feet.

Boom!

A massive amount of magma shot upward, swallowing Shin whole. The crimson magma illuminated a large portion of the night sky.

A strange smile appeared on Jogo's face as he laughed wantonly. "Hahaha, as expected of a brat. Your combat experience is lacking. Even if you possess a powerful offensive Cursed Technique, the bodies of Jujutsu Sorcerers are very fragile."

Before he could finish laughing, a fist wrapped in Cursed Energy smashed into his face from within the magma pillar.

Pfft!

Jogo was sent flying by the punch, spinning two and a half times in the air before landing. The purple blood he spat out nearly splashed onto Shin.

"Are you calling my body fragile? You're no different. For a Cursed Spirit specialized in attacks like you, your body's durability isn't much higher, is it?"

This was actually a fact. Even though Hanami took so many Black Flashes and was hit in vital spots by Special Grade Cursed Tools in the original series without appearing too severely injured, that was because Hanami belonged to the defense-specialized type. If it had been Jogo taking all those attacks, he would have been exorcised long ago.

Of course, if the students from Tokyo Jujutsu High had been facing Jogo instead of Hanami back then, they would have been wiped out.

Just then, Satoru arrived behind Shin, bringing Megumi, Yuji, and Nobara with him.

"Oh? Shin, are you having fun? You don't mind that I brought the students along to join this rare exchange meeting, do you?"

Shin rolled his eyes at him. He really didn't know where Satoru got the idea that he was playing. He was clearly in the middle of an intense and thrilling life-or-death battle with Jogo, okay?

Although he could ignore Jogo's Cursed Technique damage and stand his ground after eating the enchanted golden apple, if Jogo realized this and stopped using his Cursed Technique, opting to use physical combat and Cursed Energy strikes instead, he would get hurt.

Shin took out a Splash Potion of Fire Resistance and threw it on the ground, granting everyone from Tokyo Jujutsu High the fire resistance effect to prevent them from being accidentally injured later.

The highly curious Yuji pointed at Jogo and asked, "Is that Cursed Spirit with the volcano head the exchange partner for this time? It looks really..."

Yuji didn't say anything insulting, but Nobara immediately started roasting Jogo, "He looks old, ugly, and short. Most importantly, he looks pretty sleazy."

The two volcanic rocks plugging Jogo's ears were blown away by a massive surge of magma.

"You've got a big mouth, Jujutsu Sorcerer! I'm going to burn you until not even your ashes remain! Ember Insects!"

Dozens of Ember Insects flew out from the largest volcano on top of Jogo's head, shrieking as they charged toward the group from Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Seeing that Satoru had no intention of making a move, Shin immediately raised his hand and summoned a bedrock wall.

Boom... Boom...

After a series of explosions, the bedrock wall remained standing in front of the group, completely unmoved. However, the wall also blocked their line of sight.

Jogo quickly circled to the side, raised his hand, and launched a massive ball of scorching flames.

At this moment, Satoru began explaining to the group, "If you encounter a Cursed Spirit with such strong offensive Cursed Techniques, you must never think about meeting it head-on..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the fireball had already engulfed them.

"You must dodge whenever you can. A normal Jujutsu Sorcerer hit by this move probably wouldn't need to pay for cremation."

Even while shrouded in the high-temperature flames, Satoru continued his lecture unhurriedly.

Jogo was already red with rage, bombarding the spot where the group was standing with various powerful Cursed Techniques as if they were free. Yet, the students from Tokyo Jujutsu High were still chatting leisurely.

Yuji asked, "Then why aren't we dodging right now?"

Satoru replied, "Because this Cursed Spirit is being countered by Shin. His Cursed Technique has no effect at all. He can't deal any damage."

"Huff... Huff..."

Having used a large number of Cursed Techniques in a short time, Jogo was becoming fatigued. He was already thinking about retreating.

Taking advantage of the fact that the flames hadn't dissipated yet, he took a step backward, but Satoru instantly teleported right in front of his face.

One hand instantly grabbed his arm, while the other hand delivered a palm strike that made him spit blood. Then, he was gently tossed into the air by Satoru, who followed up with a roundhouse kick that slammed him into the nearby mountainside.

"That won't do, Cursed Spirit-san. Our lesson isn't over yet. You know that, right? The pinnacle of Cursed Techniques, known as Domain Expansion."

Jogo struggled to crawl up from the ground, staring fixedly at Satoru. His heart was filled with regret. Although Satoru had only given him one punch and one kick, that immense power had already made Jogo realize the gap between them.

Not to mention that there was also a somewhat strange boy nearby. He was absolutely certain that his Cursed Technique failing was related to him. He had seen Shin throw something into the middle of the group, and afterward, those people were all able to ignore his Cursed Technique.

It was simply like... a natural predator.
