Chapter 152 - Lover’s Quarrel

Missio followed behind his brother. He stood in line right behind him. The queue moved slowly as each person placed their vote for the nation's next prime minister. More people lined up as time went on. Dante eventually made it to the front. He glanced up, seeing a digital sign that said 'Occupied.' He waited for a few minutes before the sign turned green. The door slid open. He stepped inside and it slammed shut behind him.

Within the room, there sat a man with a pristine white suit with gold accents, wearing dark shades. He looked at Dante with a stoic expression and opened his mouth.

"Please state your name." The man spoke.

Dante adjusted his glasses. "Dante Deus Augustus."

The man froze in his tracks. He coughed and waved at the King.

"Go ahead, sir."

The man didn't check Dante's voting ID – he didn't have to. The man handed the supreme commander a sheet of paper. Dante took it and sat down. He grabbed the stamp on the table and gazed over the page. Three names were listed on it with their affiliated department and photo. He heaved a sigh, contemplating who to vote for.

His fingers tapped against the table, echoing across the room. Eventually, he made a decision. He stamped one individual's name. Then, he folded the page and slid it into the box. He stood up and headed for the exit on the other side. The man watched the patriarch leave and heaved a sigh of relief.

"That was the King…" he muttered to himself, pressing a button to his side.

The next second, Missio entered the booth. He glanced at the agent – awkwardly. The man straightened.

"State your name." He said.

"…Missio Augustus."

'Two Augustus's?'

The man raised his brows. He tapped his glasses, entering Missio's name into the system. After confirming his ID, the man signaled for Missio to sit down. Missio did as told. A piece of paper soon came to his hand. He gazed over the candidates and thought seriously for a few seconds. He grabbed the stamp and pressed down on the page. Then, he folded it and slid it into the box. He stood up and swiftly exited.

Outside, Dante stood, waiting for his little brother. The supreme commander smiled and pulled his brother forward.

"Was it stressful?" Dante asked.

"No... not as much as I expected…" Missio replied as they walked forward.

"That's great!" Dante exclaimed. "Who did you vote for?"

"The first one." Missio replied.

"Same." Dante looked forward as they exited the City's main building. "He's competent enough as a first timer. That's all we need. He'll get better with experience."

Missio nodded, agreeing with his brother's statement. Dante activated his attribute and burst off with Missio in hand. They manifested again at Verona. Missio blinked– they were at their RV again. Dante let go of him and pushed him forward.

"Get some rest. I have something to do." Dante drew his phone.

The RV opened on Dante's command. Missio stepped inside as the awning unfolded. Dante dialed a certain number and held it to his ear. After a few seconds, the other side picked up.

"Good morning, Sir Dante." The agent stated.

"How did the search go, John?" Dante inquired.

John paused for a moment. Dante gulped, awaiting the agent's answer.

"…We found… nothing… sir." John replied.

"Really? Nothing at all?" Dante exclaimed.

"We believe that our targets are outside of the government. Every official from the Mayors to the Minister have been thoroughly investigated and not a trace of Kedith's hand. Not even the officials he recommended and appointed have any suspicion on them. These Anarchy church bastards are really good at covering their tracks." John said in a defeated voice.

Dante sighed. "If nothing's been found, let the investigation go. Release the results of it to the public after the new PM has been appointed."

"Yes, sir."

Dante cut the call. He took the device away from his ear and stared at the 'Do not Disturb' setting. He drew a deep breath and exhaled heavily.

"Let's see what happens." He turned off the setting, steeling himself.

Immediately, A call came from Isabella's father – Lorenzo. Dante clutched his chest, sighing in relief that it wasn't his fiancé. He lifted his head and answered the call.

"Hello?" He spoke.

"Dante!" Lorenzo exclaimed. "Good lord! We've been trying to get a hold of you since forever."

"Yeah… sorry." Dante apologized.

"No need! No need at all! I'm just happy you finally proposed. I been wanting grandkids for so long." Lorenzo cried in happiness.

"Okay, let's not go that far, Mr. Lorenzo." Dante said quickly. "What's going on with Isabella?"

Lorenzo brought himself back together.

"She's been a mess. Her heartrate's been over 100 BPM for the last week! She hasn't been able to go to her job since."

"Where has she been these past few days?" Dante questioned.

"At the hospital! Her temper has gone through the roof. She's been constantly calling, texting, emailing, face-timing you for the past week! She been shouting your name cursing at you as well!" Lorenzo replied.

Dante smacked his lips. "I may have set off a nuke."

"You certainly have but please come back quickly or else she'll die."

"I'm sure she won't." Dante laughed. "I reckon if she does, she'll just resurrect herself."

"That's a good one." Lorenzo laughed. "My wife is with her. I'm just outside her room, around the corner so she can maybe hear me…"

Dante froze. "She can hear you…?"

Just then, Lorenzo voice became muffled. A chill went down the supreme commander's spine as Lorenzo struggled for something. Just as he was about to cut the call, the voice he most dreaded spoke–

"DANTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

Dante instantly hung up and turned on 'Do not Disturb'.

"Nope – Nope – Nope. She needs more time." He stated with a straight face.

He tucked his phone back and entered the RV. He glanced to the side, seeing Missio sitting with a puzzled expression.

"What happened? I thought I heard someone screaming."

"Oh, right." Dante turned towards him. "That was Isabella."

Missio raised a brow. "Did you talk to her?"

"Nope. I'm not going to until she calms down." Dante sat beside him.

"I feel like she's just gonna get angrier." Missio stated.

"That is a possibility…" Dante chuckled. "Anyways, we'll continue your training from tomorrow."

Missio narrowed his eyes. 'He's seriously treating her like a nuclear threat… what a joke.'
