Alright so where do I start?
This is my first fanfic (hurray) and I don't really want to do this.
I think the reason why I'm writing this fic is really because I want to practice my writing skills and also because I never seen a Giyuu and Sanemi timetravel fic. If you found any please let me know.
This also means that I won't be updating this fic a lot. I'm in school and I have way more important stuff to do than this, so I won't make any false promises right now cause I know it sucks when the author of a fic you're reading doesn't update the fic.
Now as for the fic itself, its about demon slayer (which really isn't a show I'm passionate about). I really only watch the show for its action and animation. I don't really have a problem with the plot even if its basic compared to other shonen. I just have a problem with the characters, as I find them extremely 2-dimensional. There's not really incredible depth to a character and all the character development given to a character is really just because of a sad backstory. I don't really know how to put my distaste into words, but the best I can say is that characters such as Tanjiro can be explained by just "happy". Same with Sanemi as "angry", or Giyuu as "depressed", or Tengen as "flashy". I find that the characters are just emotions as a personality, and although they can have interesting character dynamics with others, it doesn't really intrigue me that much. At least, not that much as other characters in other shonens (wow i rlly went on a rant 😓)
Anyways, as for the ships, I decided to go with GiyuShino and SaneKana. Im generally a fan of canon ships and I actually like Giyuu just being shipped with no one. I know there's always a debate on whether its canon that Giyuu is shipped with Shinobu, or Sanemi, or that one person from that oneshot. But the truth is that he isn't canonically shipped with anyone, and I think that fits his character perfectly of never being to close to someone and being afraid of love. Regardless, I'd like to mention that there is NO problem in shipping fictional characters with other fictional characters. As long as you acknowledge that other ships can exist, that it is or isn't canon depending on the ship, and that it isn't outright atrocious (like some mha ships *cough* *cough*) then there should be no problem. Now for this fic, I was debating if I should have gone with SaneGiyu, and I did feel like it would have worked well. However I really wanted to explore Sanekana, and I didn't want Giyuu to be left alone so I also did GiyuShino.
Finally I don't really have a concrete plan as to how the fic will go. I guess I'm just going to wing it. This fic will be cross posted between AO3 and Wattpad. And with that said, enjoy this sad excuse of a fanfiction 👍.
