September 10, 1997.
A mother has conceived twins and was about 7 months pregnant, along with her husband they were excited to see their children, imagining the future they would build with their two sons.
But unexpected things happen in life, and the other baby, while in the womb had vanished, nobody knew how this happened, not even the doctors can explain to the couple how this is even possible.
The couple were in distraught, but it didn't make them give up on being a great parent for their child, they moved on and gave all that they have for their only child.
20 years later...
The sound of an alarm clock reverberates throug the whole bedroom, loudly beeping, soon the beeping stopped, as a man with long red hair, wakes up from his bed, "..." he stopped and thought about something, he forgets about it and looks back to the clock, "..." and then he remembers, "Oh shit I'm late!" he runs off, and hurriedly dresses up on his school uniform, tying his hair, taking a piece of bread and devouring it whole.
"I forgot, today's the day, today's my graduation day," oh, yeah, quite strange how he's only 20 years old and already graduating college no? well, Jason has always been an exceptional student, he's not always the top of the class, because he's on a school filled with geniuses, but for an average man his skills and abilities are truly remarkable. Graduating as a law major, this is his first steps to his dream of becoming a great lawyer.
Finally, after some time, he managed to get there, but it already started, so he sits somewhere else separate from the other students. While sitting he thought about how far he's come, and how hard life's been, "Now that school life is basically over, I just realized, I never really had a best friend huh, life would've been a bit more easier with one," he whispers with sorrow, he then remembered that he was supposed to have a twin brother, in his mind, "I wonder how life would've been if he had never died, honestly that would be nice."
He spent the whole graduation thinking about having someone accompany him through his life, imagining a life he never had, "I wonder if this is how my parents felt when they lost him, I will never know, they're dead now." The deaths of his parents never came across as something tragic, but a tiny bit of sadness grows as he thinks about his late parents. He lets out a sigh "Man I should really stop thinking about these," he spoke with conscience.
The graduation ceremony ends and they all went back home, Jason was on his way to take a ride home when suddenly, "Jason!" a voice of a girl with a long black hair calls out for him, he turns around to look at the person trying to reach out to him, with a surprised expression, "Oh! It's you," he spoke.
The girl's name is Persephone, a friend he had since the start of college, when Jason was trying to find somewhere to live, he managed to find an apartment and that's where they met, Persephone studies in another school, which is why Jason was surprised to see her.
They're roommates and she was planning to wake him up for this day, but figured it would be a nice prank to pull on him, now even while they have been friends for the longest time now, for Jason she never felt like a best friend, just a roommate he could talk to and maybe have fun with at times.
He asked her, "What are you doing here?" "Oh, well I figured I'd go home with you, I don't see why not?" she replied, Jason was dumbfounded and does a face palm, "You know that you're much closer to our apartment right?" "Uhuh?" While nodding her head "So why the hell did you go all the way here?" she tries to think of a good excuse and comes out with...
Nothing, "Uh... I'm sorry I just wanted to go home with you," Jason sighs, but he accepts her request, "Alright, let's go home now, but don't ever pull a shit like this ever again alright?" she replies, "Alright!"
While they were waiting for a ride home, Persephone had other plans, "Hey," she asked "How about we just walk home, it'd be pretty boring if we just take a ride home wouldn't it?"
Jason thought about it carefully, he looks down at his watch, the time says 3:15 pm, "Well, we do have enough time for that-" Persephone dragged his arm and went off, "So that's a yes!" Jason tells her to stop, "Hey wait, don't just drag me around!"
Persephone stops, and giggles, "Okay, okay let's get some ice cream."
Time passed and they had just entered a cafe with their ice cream at hand.
"Wow, I didn't take you as someone who goes to these types of places often." Persephone said with a bossy voice, "I also go around places where I'm able to have fun you know?" Jason replied.
Persephone giggles, "Fun? You? Didn't think they'd be able to be at the same sentence," she laughs, while Jason stood there, clearly getting annoyed, Jason spoke "I know I'm a little too serious at times, but I'm human too you know?" Persephone replied, "Are you mad at me?" with a mocking voice. Jason sighs, "Seriously, I never see you having fun, it's almost concerning,"
"Well, I never really got the time to do so," Jason replied, "From now on do something fun more often," they walked to the nearest table, "But now that we're here, let's have some fun before all of that's gone in a blink of an eye," they then sat down.
The day went on like how it should be, they never really bought anything from the cafe, they just talked, about things average people would talk about, talked about the graduation Jason had, talked a little about politics. It was nice, maybe a little too nice.
"Hey, so, have you seen the news?" Persephone asked, "The news? What about it?"
"Okay, basically a lot of people has shown powers lately, like being super strong, or fast, or they can even levitate,"
Jason stared at her as if she was pulling a prank, "This isn't a joke is it?" He replied. "I'm not joking!" Persephone in an annoyed voice, "So many friends has said that to me this day, it's in the news, just go to the internet right now, search it up you'll see something," Jason feeling a bit guilty after what she said, "Okay sorry, I believe you, I won't even Google it,"
"Really?" Persephone felt seen, "I mean it,"
The sound of a glass window shattering loudly interrupted the customers of the cafe, Jason was alarmed, something was wrong.
A mysterious figure emerged from the broken window, they're masked carrying a red bloody blade.
The coworker pleaded to the tall figure, "Please, don't, we'll do what ever you wha-" and the man's head was cut clean off.
Jason grabbed Persephone's arm to someplace safe.
The tall figure spoke, "My sword, it's thirsty, you all will be enough,"
Jason is holding Persephone, keeping her safe while look around the area to ensure their safety, "Judging by the voice, this man is definitely nuts," He whispered to Persephone. "He's one of them," Jason looked back at her, "What?" Persephone repeated herself, "He's one of them, the people with powers! Or I think so,"
Jason not being able to be mad at her in this situation, just accepted that maybe this man is one of them, "Think I could take this man down?" That was a dumb question, that's what Jason said in his mind.
"Are you crazy?" Persephone angrily said, and rightfully so, "Your going to die if you try to fight that man!" While being scolded Jason his mind was somewhere else.
"He holds onto that sword so tightly, it's noticeable even if you're just an average dude, I mean his hand is practically bleeding because of it, his speed is the most interesting part, he doesn't move fast like going around swinging his sword wildly, he's moving more careful, taking them out one by one while also tormenting them, savouring every second before killing. He kills them slowly and without mercy, it's like this is giving him some sick sense of joy, if I can catch him off guard while doing that to someone I can probably take him down, though I feel bad considering the fact that I'm basically sacrificing someone to be able to get what I want."
All of that observation happened in a span of 2 seconds inside his mind.
"Seems to me this man got no powers, but he's really fast, I gotta take that into account,"
Persephone still angry, said "What, were you even-" she was cut off by Jason, "He's been moving around like he's teleporting, he's not swiftly killing them like immediately clearing them out, he's tormenting them, slowly killing them one by one,"
Jason came up with a plan to take the man down, "Sure he's fast like that, but still, I think I have a chance, maybe that sword is giving him powers, it looks really strange."
He takes advantage of the man's antics, as the man is about to kill someone he takes too long and doesn't think about attacks from behind, and when the perfect timing came,
"Gotcha!" Jason jumped from behind and takes the man down, or so he thought.
Jason falls down and catches nothing but air, "What?" He tries to process what has happened, but before he even got to do that, "Jason!" Persephone yelled for his name as the man grabs her by the throat choking her, "You!" The man slashes the air and the blood from the sword severed Jason's leg, he's unable to move.
"Shit!" The man looked somehow surprised, "Not hurt? Impressive," Jason has a confident look in his face, "You still think you can take me down?"
Jason contemplates his choices, "Maybe I should have done this…" he looks around, and sees that the others have left safely, "Even if, I'm going to die here, at least I'll die without any regrets,"
"Although," He looks at Persephone, "Jason, help," her voice slowly becoming more faded as she's losing air, "I still have to save her no matter what!"
Jason struggles, he crawls to try to get to the man, "What meaningless struggle," the man stopped choking Persephone by slamming her to the ground, "Well, it was fun seeing you struggle for nothing," He swung his sword to Jason.
"If only, if only I have something like that!" he remembers what Persephone told him, "Okay, basically a lot of people has shown powers lately, like being super strong, or fast, or they can even levitate,"
"If only I have something like those I would've been able to help."
"I'm not invincible, I'm just a man," and his vision slowly fades as the sword swings to his head.
Unconscious Jason hears a voice, "Powers is it? Well, I'll let you borrow this for a while."
The man stopped midway his swing, and only scratched Jason's left cheek.
The man went back to Persephone, "Well, you're quite the stunning woman, it'd be a waste if I just kill you here, I might be able to 'use' you sometimes, how about it, I don't kill you but you-" Persephone denies his request before he finishes, "I'd rather die than have that!" The man disappointed, replies, "Oh well, guess you die," the man swings his sword to Persephone, she closes her eyes, puts her arm up but then,
"No, no you don't!" Jason grabs the man and throws him outside, Persephone opens her eyes, "Jason you, you have wings?" Jason looks to his back, "Oh wow I really do have wings, well that's a dumb power, anyways that's not important,"
Persephone adds, "You're also half naked!" Jason's had also only realized it now, "Woah, my clothes are gone, except for my pants for some reason, and huh, my skin is gone."
"Disgusting!" Persephone replied in a horrified tone.
"Hey it's not my fault okay? I just woke up and now I have wings!"
He looks back to the man he threw and he's about to get back up, "Hey, I'll be right back okay? Don't worry about it."
As Jason flies away something came Persephone's mind, "How strong is Jason really?" She looked back to all the times Jason's been hurt, when he broke his leg on an accident, broke his hand, and even cut his finger while cooking.
"All those times, he never showed any sign of pain, is he really a normal person?"
Jason flies over to the man and gives him a punch, "Huh, not as fast as I expected, maybe it's not super speed?" Jason keeps on wailing on him and quickly going out his way as he tries to fight back, "Take this!" Jason winds up a punch and the man was knocked out, and he loses grip of his sword.
"Something's off," Jason felt that the man was unusually weaker than expected, the man woke up once more, "That hurts," he looks around, "Woah, what happened here? And why do you have one leg sliced off?" Jason replied, "You killed the people there!" he points to the cafe, "And you're the one who cut my leg!"
"What but I dont remember anything happening!" Jason takes a better look at the man, in his mind he said, "He does look a lot smaller now, that's strange,"
He looks around and finds the sword, "This sword, something's wrong with this sword, the blood, it doesn't look like it's drenched in blood, it's more like the blade is blood." He grabs the sword to inspect it.
As he grabbed the sword, the sword begins to take over Jason's body, "W-what is this?" He struggles to stop it, and soon the sword is beginning to consume him.
A mysterious voice spoke, the same as when he was unconscious, "No, you don't get to do that to him," and the sword stopped.
It left Jason confused as to what had happened, "Who was that?" but before he could process everything, the police has came,
"Freeze! Don't make any sudden movements!" Jason tried to explain himself "Wait officer I'm not-" before he could explain himself, a man with green eyes interrupted him, "Arrest him," Jason was shocked, "What? Wait, I haven't even explained myself!" the man insisted, "There's no need for explanations, that sword is enough to convince me, arrest him,"
The world was so fast, too fast for Jason to process, what will happen to him now?
