Chapter 16 - The Last One

Finally, one of the things he was waiting for, his Aspect.

 Aspect: [Last Weaver]

 Aspect Rank: Unholy

Aspect Description: [Weaver was a nebulous and elusive creature, not only surrounded in mystery, but also obsessed with lies. Above all else, Weaver loathed Fate. He searched for something that could end it. Across endless time and boundless space, he searched without rest, without hope, finding nothing…Until now.]

Otto felt a chill run down his spine.

 "Until now…" he repeated.

There was too much to think about. He had many questions, like; Was it Weaver who brought him to this world? What had it brought him for? Was it to destroy Fate? If it was, why? Sunny would already do that, with his help above all.

But he held them. There was no point in pondering about them now, there were simply too many, and none of them would be answered anyway.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm his raging heart.

 Aspect Abilities: [Lost Eye]

Aspect Ability Description: [You can look at the strings of fate.]

His heart nearly stopped. He read too many times before convincing himself that he wasn't seeing things.

"I can see the strings of Fate? How overpowered is this?" He laughed outloud, not worried at all that anybody would hear him.

Seeing the Strings of Fate was a great boon. Not only would he be able to know everything in advance and never be caught unprepared, but he also would be able to basically have a radar to what point in the story it was, even with being far away from the main cast.

After all, Fate spinned around Sunny.

"Oh Lady Luck, I love you so much."

he once again took a deep breath, reading one more time.

"Hm… is strange though, why does it say 'Look' instead of 'See'?" A creep idea crawled into his mind.

Desperate, he tried to use his ability. Realizing that it was a passive one. His expression fell.

"Fuck. Why? Why can't I have good things? Fuck you, Lady Luck."

The word "Look" instead of "See" may be something trivial to some, but in this world they were utterly different in every sense.

One can always look at the sky, but that it did not mean he would be able to see the stars. They were always there, but only at night one could see them. It was basically the same thing. Otto would be able to look at the Strings of Fate, but only with [Where's my Eye] enchantment from the Divine version of [Weaver's Mask].

"Like I know where that piece of garbage is."

Of course, he did know where one of them was. Inside the Dark City. Fated to be Sunny's. But, there were supposed to be two of them. One for each of the two highest priests of Weaver.

So…Where was the other one? He had no idea.

It never was revealed in the novel, well, not quite, he knew that the second priest was a man. And that he was a sorcerer, a Weaver to be exactly, the only one human who could Weave.

But nothing more was said about him. Not where he died, how, or where his mask was.

 "I am fucked. Uterlly fucked."

Without a mask he was basically Aspectless, that could mean one thing, death.

"I'm sorry, Lady Luck. Please, come back to me." But no answer came from his imaginary God, making him turn back to his Runes with a sad expression.

 Innate Ability: [Body of Strings]

Ability Description: [Your body is made of the own strings you are meant to consume. Find worthy followers to weave thy strings.]

 "Huh… What is that—"

Then, as if in cue, a literal hole opened on the top of his hand. Behind that hole, Otto could see an infinite amount of golden strings behind it, only for a split second, as Silk suddenly jumped out of this hole, closing instantly.

She seemed spent, as if she had run a marathon and then worked in a twelve hour shift.

"What is up with you? And what was that hole? Were you inside me this whole time?"

Silk was too tired to respond, she simply laid on his hand, slipping down onto the table.

Otto eyed the little spider. What could have left her so tired? She was a spider after all, it's not like she worked out or something like that. Eying his Innate Ability and then Silk, a theory came into mind.

"Were you the one who healed my arm?"

Silk didn't respond, but somehow, Otto knew that he was right.

That was…weird, to say the least.

Ignoring the fact that he had a literal hole in his body not a minute ago, he was uncertain how it worked. He could still feel his flesh, his blood pumping through his heart, his lungs taking air. So how was his body made of Strigs?

It could only be in a metaphysics way. At least that explained his arm healing that fast. Silk probably was… inside of him, mending his arm. But with what though? With her web? Was the web even strong enough to replace a bone? What about his veins?

"Weird. Way too weird." he creeped out just remembering that hole in his hand.
