The Honest Boy
ch1: The Poor Life
Once upon a time, there was a poor boy named Rahim. He lived in a small, quiet village with his old mother. Their house was made of mud and bamboo, and the roof was broken in many places. Whenever it rained, water would drip inside, and they had to sit in one corner to stay dry.
Rahim and his mother lived a very hard life. They did not have enough food to eat every day. Sometimes they had only rice with salt, and sometimes they went to bed hungry. Rahim's clothes were old and torn, but he never complained.
Every morning, Rahim woke up early and went to the forest to collect firewood. He also worked in other people's fields to earn a little money. After working all day, he returned home tired, but he always had a smile on his face because he loved his mother very much.
His mother was a kind and wise woman. She always taught him good values. She said, "My son, we may be poor, but we must always be honest and kind. Honesty is the greatest wealth in life." Rahim listened carefully and promised to follow her words.
Even in their poverty, they lived with love, respect, and hope for a better future.
