"You asked for me."
Sabrina stepped into the waiting room of the north wing, a tight, defensive frown etched into her forehead.
Joanne stood by the tall glass window, a steaming mug held loosely in her hands. She turned, her gaze taking its time as her eyes dragged over Sabrina from head to toe.
"I see you're acclimatising to your new position," Joanne said, her lips curling into a dry smile.
Sabrina didn't take the bait. "What is it?"
Joanne set her mug down and walked closer, her voice dropping to a low whisper. "The pack house is in utter disarray because of Ruri trying to kill herself. Everyone is distracted. No one would notice if something goes wrong."
Sabrina frowned, the words hanging between them. Then, the silence shifted. Realization slowly dawned, and her eyes snapped up to meet Joanne's.
"You mean now?"
Joanne's smile widened, sharp and cold. "Exactly."
Nina walked briskly along the narrow, stone-paved path that wound toward the garden of lilies.
