Nina whimpered as his body crushed against hers on the bed, her eyes squeezing shut beneath his weight. "Snow…" she called softly.
For a heartbeat, her hands remained frozen at her sides. Then they lifted. Her fingers slipped into his silver hair, combing through the soft strands before curling gently at the nape of his neck, holding him as tightly as he held her. "Snow… I'm fine."
Rodrigo shivered beneath her touch, but he didn't lift his head, keeping his face buried in the nape of her neck.
If only he didn't leave her...
The thought refused to leave him. He could still see the wolves clawing at the wall; if they had gotten to her before he came, he would not have been able to live with himself.
Nina tightened her embrace, her eyes closing once more as she listened to the frantic rhythm of his heart.
"Nothing happened. I'm here. They couldn't hurt me," she whispered.
