Kevin's POV.
Hope spreads like a disease, fast and effective. It felt useless trying to campaign for Alpha. I couldn't take it by force anymore. They had renewed hopes.
The door swung open with a healer rushing in. Two guards brought a stretcher along and they took Ravenna with them. Elder Gaius followed to make sure his daughter was going to be fine.
"Alpha Kael is alive," a voice echoes.
"It's a miracle. I knew he wouldn't give up, he's the strongest among us for a reason."
"I guess we don't need Kevin to take his place anymore."
That stung harder than a venomous snake. They had no need of me anymore. I was useless as my shadow.
I pulled back and stared at Kael's throne. "I'll be damned," I whisper to myself. "I thought you were finally mine,".
The elders are having a field day celebrating Kael holding onto life. I was grieving his existence.
I was about to head out of the room when an elder tiptoed behind me, poking my shoulder with his short fingers.
