Chapter 49 - 049. The Bloody Messenger

Elara's POV

The drive back to my apartment was a complete blur of flashing red lights and intense anxiety. I leaves the building with my hands shaking against the steering wheel, constantly checking my rearview mirror to make sure no corporate security cars were following her home.

The entire facility was in absolute chaos when I left, and the image of those heavy steel shutters sealing Kael away in the dark kept playing on a loop inside my mind. I practically ran up the stairs to my flat, my heart hammering against my ribs as I unlocked the front door and pushed it open, desperate for a single moment of safety.

But the moment I stepped inside, the smell of my apartment was completely masked by the thick, copper smell of raw blood.

I choked back a scream as a dark figure stepped out from the shadows of my kitchen.
