The Rain That Brought Us Together

The Rain That Brought Us Together

Arif never believed in love. For him, life was simple — study hard, help his family, and stay away from distractions. Every day he sat in the same seat at the corner of his college classroom, quietly listening to lectures and leaving as soon as classes ended.

But one rainy morning changed everything.

It was the first day of the new semester when a girl walked into the class, slightly wet from the rain, holding her books close to her chest. Her name was Aisha. Her soft smile and bright eyes immediately caught everyone's attention, but Arif quickly looked away, trying not to stare.

The teacher asked her to find a seat, but all the benches were full. Finally, she walked toward the empty chair beside Arif.

"Is this seat free?" she asked politely.

Arif nodded nervously. "Yes."

"Thank you," she said with a warm smile.

That simple moment became the beginning of something special.

At first, they only talked about studies. They shared notes, discussed assignments, and sometimes helped each other understand difficult topics. Slowly, their conversations became longer. They started talking about their dreams, their favorite books, and even their fears.

Arif found himself waiting every day just to see her smile.

One afternoon, heavy rain started after class. Most students left quickly, but Arif stayed under the corridor, waiting for the rain to stop. Suddenly he noticed Aisha standing nearby without an umbrella.

"You don't have an umbrella?" Arif asked.

She shook her head. "No. I thought the rain would stop."

Arif hesitated for a moment, then said, "You can share mine if you want."

They walked together under one umbrella. The distance between them was small, and Arif could hear his own heartbeat. Aisha laughed softly and said, "You are very quiet, Arif."

"I don't talk much," he replied.

"But you are kind," she said.

That sentence stayed in his heart.

Days passed, and Arif realized he was in love. But he was afraid. What if she didn't feel the same? What if their friendship ended?

On the last day before semester break, Arif finally decided to tell her. His hands were shaking.

"Aisha, I want to tell you something important," he said.

She looked at him curiously. "What is it?"

"I don't know when it happened… but I think about you every day. Your smile makes my day better. I think… I love you."

There was silence for a few seconds that felt like forever.

Then Aisha smiled gently.

"I was waiting for you to say this," she said softly. "Because I feel the same."

Arif could not believe his ears. "Really?"

She nodded. "Yes. Love doesn't always come loudly. Sometimes it comes quietly, like the rain… and stays in the heart."

At that moment, Arif finally believed in love.

Sometimes love begins with simple moments — a shared seat, a small conversation, or a walk in the rain. And sometimes, the person you never expected becomes the most important person in your life.

The End. ❤️
