Renee Kane raised an eyebrow. She leaned forward, gently pinching Magic's chin to study him. But she saw no sign of humiliation—on the contrary, he seemed to be faintly anticipating something.
She smiled, then suddenly slapped Magic across the face. "How should you address your master, hmm?"
Magic took the slap but merely pushed his tongue against the inside of his cheek. He then offered up his other side. "Master, I was wrong. You can punish me however you wish, just please don't…"
Before he could finish, Renee Kane mercilessly slapped his other cheek. "Do I need you to teach me what to do?"
But Magic suddenly clutched his face and laughed.
He seemed to be savoring it with immense enjoyment before gently rubbing the hand Renee Kane had used to hit him. "Master, does your hand hurt?"
