"But you..."
Faye sighed, turning to drag her brother along. "I'm fine! Did those little bugs bite you?"
"No, no, I've been wearing the vestment robe you gave me the whole time." As Ethan spoke, he glanced back instinctively, then couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy shit, the whole beach has turned white! What the hell is that mist rising from the sand?"
Faye took a deep breath and used her Inner Strength to fling her brother away, shouting, "Hurry up and go back! Or I won't bring you with me next time!"
Her shout was so loud it seemed to give the mist a target. It began to spread along the beach and over the water, creeping in Faye's direction.
Ethan wanted to say more, but seeing this, he wanted to slap himself. He quickly vanished.
With her brother gone, Faye was free of her last worry. She dove deep into the sea.
The seawater masked her presence. The mist only swirled and spread across the surface, not reaching down into the depths.
This was good news for Faye.
