'How does he know? Did I accidentally let it slip last time? Or did he investigate later?'
Countless speculations and wary thoughts flashed through her mind.
But she quickly calmed down. If Miles Murray truly meant her harm, he had plenty of opportunities to ambush her before. He could even try to snatch it from her right now. Instead, he was bringing it up openly for negotiation.
Her expression remained neutral as she mulled it over. "How much do you want? I'll need to go back and discuss this with my base's administrator before I can make a decision."
She hadn't directly refused, nor had she made any grand promises. By deferring the decision to the "administrator," she left herself some room to maneuver.
Miles Murray nodded in understanding. "Alright. I'll wait to hear from you."
