Josie Quinn came out with her backpack and said to the two people sitting in the living room, "Granny Cameron, Jane, I'm planning to be gone for a few days. Try not to leave the house. If you absolutely have to go out, find Peter Cameron and have him send people to protect you."
Jane Alden stood up from the sofa. "Cece, you're going out? Leaving the safe zone?"
"Yeah. The zombies are evolving, so I need to improve my superpowers."
"But... Felix isn't here. What if you run into danger all by yourself?" Jane Alden tried to anxiously persuade her to stay. "Why don't you wait for Felix to come back? Wait for him to go with you?"
Josie Quinn shook her head. "No need. I'll only be gone a day or two. I might even be back before he is."
'I'm going out there to improve my own strength. If Felix Fields were here, he would protect me, and I'd easily become dependent.'
'You can't rely on anyone. The only person I can rely on is myself.'
