Before the words were even out, a flash of violet lightning crackled through the air. She collapsed to the ground like a boneless heap, her body convulsing.
Felix Fields didn't spare her a single glance. He and Lucas Lockwood pushed open the rust-spotted iron gate from either side and were the first to step into the misty wasteland.
Joanna Cross lay on the ground for a moment to recover. Then, she struggled to her feet and stumbled toward Marco Cross's room.
"Brother! Wake up!"
Inside the room, Marco Cross was fast asleep with his arms around two scantily clad women. The shriek startled him awake, and he exploded in fury. "Joanna Cross! What the fuck is your problem now!"
Joanna Cross rushed forward. "Brother, I just saw Felix Fields leaving with Rhona Cameron and Jane Alden! They were carrying bags."
Marco Cross was instantly wide awake. He shoved the women beside him away. "Fuck! Go get my men!"
