Even though they already knew what the situation was like outside, when they walked out of the master bedroom and were enveloped by the raging sandstorm, a few of them still showed a visible moment of panic.
The sandstorm was simply too intense. To avoid getting separated, they found a long rope and ran it from the front of the line to the back.
But this rope wasn't tied directly to their bodies.
Each person had a smaller rope tied around them, with a clasp at one end that could be clipped directly onto the long main rope.
This way, everyone could stay connected without being bound too restrictively.
If something unexpected happened and one person couldn't be saved, it wouldn't drag everyone else down into a point of no return.
Sierra Sullivan was second in the line.
In front of her was Jayce.
They were right behind one another, the distance between them not even half a meter.
But even at such a close distance, Sierra Sullivan's view of Jayce's back was still a blur.
