"I know it's dangerous outside." Jayce's expression didn't change. "But it's dangerous for everyone."
Kevin Everett was taken aback by his words, then seemed about to say something but stopped himself.
Jayce didn't wait for him to speak and continued, "Dad, I'm not some selfless person who sacrifices himself for others. It's just that if they can't hold the line downstairs, those of us up here will become sitting ducks. Won't we be in an even worse position then?"
This time, Kevin Everett couldn't find any words to object.
