Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Doomed

Yushai gets out of the carriage onto the narrow technical ledge of the bridge.

Saigid felt dizzy from the height above sea level and from the sickening picture of how the centipedes from the rift were feeding into the sea. But not only are these monsters falling into the sea, but also the people who couldn't keep up with Yushai's pace.

"It's the wind, it'll throw anyone off the bridge," Saigid said, looking out of the carriage towards the shore.

Yushai walks steadily forward, and people try to keep up with him, but he doesn't even turn around to look at them.

The creatures that were falling from the rift into the sea began to climb up onto the bridge.

Saigid put his hand in his pocket, breathing heavily. He took out a crumpled blister with three pills from his pocket.

They had "Aizorod" written on them.

"All my peace of mind... Even in such a situation, this pill won't help. We need to find a new one urgently." Saigid said as he popped all three pills into his mouth.

His throat stung as he chewed the bitter, chalky powder. But Saigid didn't care about that. Right now, he desperately needs to be calm. So that he would have a cold mind.

Saigid took a step out of the carriage, confidently standing on the technical protrusion of the bridge.

He still feels fear, so at least he can see the fact that the hero they are blindly following is now behaving like a real scumbag.

"YUSHAI!" shouted Saigid aggressively.

Yushai didn't even bother to turn around at his cry, as well as at the screams of those who were crawling after him pleadingly.

Saigid's anger intensified. He felt like he was being treated exactly like everyone else who was following Yushai like a brainless herd of sheep.

"Hey, I'm talking to you!" Saigid yelled again.

Saigid staggered, struggling to maintain his balance. He held onto the edge of the carriage tightly, feeling his grip loosen from the shaking.

A huge rumble was heard, the bridge was shaking like a small earthquake. The realization that a bridge had just been destroyed from the shore.

He looked at Yushai again. The man moved effortlessly, like he was a robot, indifferent to the chaos and danger around him.

The gap between them was growing with every step he took.

Yushai stopped. He turned his head to the right side, and it was at that moment that the rift began to ooze there. Something resembling a scorpion, black with a metallic tinge, emerged from the rift.

The monstrous scorpion emerged from the glowing tear in reality, its segmented body glistening unnaturally. Its beady eyes fixated on Yushai.

Yushai did nothing. He didn't even raise his weapon. He just stood there, looking at the creature with an almost bored look.

The scorpion attacked.

Yushai didn't defend himself.

Because it wasn't aiming at him.

It was aiming past him

straight at Saigid.

"Does this thing need me?"
