Elara's POV
I had just come back from another failed dinner with the Alpha, and this time he had threatened to not allow me to speak to my father ever again, if I didn't eat.
Then there was Killian, who was trying so hard to gain my forgiveness. Truth is, I had forgiven him, it was the forgetting part that was hard.
"Lady Elara…?"
Mai had followed me in at some point, closing the door gently behind her, she stood with her hands folded neatly in front of her.
"I'm fine," I said.
She just nodded, stepping closer. "Would you like me to bring food? Or tea?"
I shook my head and moved toward the window instead, lowering myself into the chair beside it. "No. Just stay."
Mai hesitated for only a second before nodding again. "Of course."
"Tell me something," I said after a while, my gaze still fixed outside. "Anything. I just… don't want to think right now."
Mai blinked, clearly caught off guard. "Anything?"
"Tell me about your life. Just distract me."
