At first, all Olivia Wynne could think about was eating, so she didn't catch the deeper meaning in Zachary Fairchild's words. She walked forward a couple of steps, her eyes fixed on his tall, straight back. She subconsciously recalled what he had said before and, in a flash, understood his true meaning. A blush colored her cheeks, and her pace slowed considerably.
In the kitchen, Zachary cooked while Olivia helped out. They quickly prepared a meal of four dishes and a soup—all of Olivia's favorites, as usual.
Zachary's cooking was excellent, and since Olivia was hungry, she ate too much without realizing it. Her stomach felt uncomfortably full.
When Zachary saw Olivia leaning against the sofa and clutching her stomach, he told her not to worry about the dishes. He went to wash them himself. After he came back out, he saw her still on the sofa with a pained look on her face and strode over.
"Is your stomach still bothering you?"
Olivia's grimace deepened.
"Yeah, I ate too much."
