Jace Lennox glanced at Phoebe Faulkner, but she was lost in thought and didn't look his way, not even noticing he was watching her. He retracted his gaze. "Since we're going, let's all go together."
"Alright, shall we get going then?" Faye Ford said, standing up and patting the grass from her rear. "But it's a bit boring for a whole group of us to just walk up the mountain and then walk back down. How about we split into pairs to climb and get back down before five in the afternoon?"
As she spoke, she watched for Jace Lennox's reaction.
However, Jace Lennox didn't react as she'd expected.
"Since no one's objecting, we'll do it that way? Great, I'll make the groups now. As they say, pair a man and a woman, and the walk feels shorter. So, how about this: Little Whitecoat and his girlfriend in one group, Jacobs King and I in another, Lennox and Rona in the third, and Phoebe can go with Lord Ronan?"
"Hey, wait, what about me?" Caleb Calloway, who had been forgotten, called out.
