"Miss Ford, you can leave Miss Faulkner with me," Finn Vaughn said to Faye Ford.
"And where's your boss? Where'd he run off to?"
Faye Ford had no intention of leaving. She plumped down on the sofa, tossed her car keys onto the coffee table, and crossed her legs, saying with dissatisfaction, "Don't you dare tell me that with Phoebe hurt and sick, he's still out doing business?"
"The boss is upstairs, handling matters," Finn Vaughn said with the utmost respect.
"Handling matters? What could he possibly be handling? I'm going to go see for myself." With that, Faye Ford started for the stairs.
"Miss Ford, it would be best if you returned home. You know the boss's temper. If you go up like this, I'm afraid..." Finn Vaughn blocked Faye Ford's path, giving her a slight bow and preventing her from going upstairs.
Faye Ford was baffled.
