Phoebe Faulkner nodded.
Jace Lennox watched her dazed expression, as if she were completely lost in thought. After a moment of silence, he walked over to her. "Stop overthinking. Just stay here, and no one will give you any trouble."
After saying this, Jace Lennox turned and headed downstairs.
"Wait!" Seeing that Jace Lennox had gone downstairs and was about to leave the house, Phoebe Faulkner took two quick steps forward and called out to him. "Can you come back a little earlier tonight?"
At her words, Jace Lennox stopped and turned back to look at Phoebe Faulkner, who was standing by the entryway.
Phoebe Faulkner grew flustered under Jace Lennox's stare. She grabbed the banister beside her and stammered, "I... My brother... he wants to eat your cooking. You... um, I..."
"I see." When Phoebe had called out to him, the look in Jace Lennox's eyes had warmed slightly. But now, after hearing her reason for stopping him, his gaze turned bone-chillingly cold.
