Phoebe Faulkner didn't particularly want to see her second cousin either.
If it weren't for Linda's sake, she would have put down her glass and left.
She looked at the person who had spoken and smiled. "My cousin probably doesn't want to see me."
"Oh? And why is that?" someone asked with exaggerated curiosity.
Someone else immediately chimed in, "Don't tell me you're a fake, are you? That you're not the third miss of the Faulkner family at all."
"That's... Phoebe, she..." Linda began, anxious to explain.
Phoebe Faulkner just smiled. "If you were really friends with my cousin, you would know that we're not on the best of terms."
"Yes, yes!" Seeing Phoebe say this, Linda quickly tried to steer the conversation back. "If you're interested, you could have Phoebe's brother come over, or have Phoebe give our Director Calloway a call. Phoebe's brother and our director are very good friends."
Hearing this, the people around them couldn't help but burst out laughing.
